Splinterlands Battle Of The Week: My Favorite Frontier Comp

The Ruleset

- Rulesets - Target Practice
- Mana Cap - 89
- Active Elements -

Here's my starting lineup
Summoner: Marlai Singariel

- With the ruleset and element pick that I got I knew there was only one possible comp i would go with
- That comp was the all powerful Water magic lineup
- The reason why i really like the Water magic lineup are the legendary and epic magic monsters Water has to offer combined with Marlai Singariel +1 magic makes them really overpowered in almost any Frontier battle
- What made it even better was that Death was not active so my enemy had no way of playing any Void monsters into his team
1st Position: Port Guardian

- Port Guardian was one of my main tanks for this battle
- Main reason I like Port Guardian here a lot is how tanky he is
- As Water only has 5 magic monsters you need to play one non magic
- And Because you already have a lot of damage I believe the best option for your last pick is a tank who could stay alive long enough for you magic monsters to deal with the entire of your enemies team
- I felt like my enemy was most likely also going to play a magic comp I needed a tank with the most hit points as possible
2nd Position: Great Bear Druid

- Great Bear Druid was my first magic monster and also kind of a secondary tank for this team
- The reason why I picked him as my second monster was because of his 6 hp which made him a okei secondary tank
- Also Great Bear Druid had 2 melee damage which I wanted to utilize before the rest of my team was gone
- For 9 mana he is not the best possible magic most but Frontier has so few monsters to pick from so he has to do for now
3rd Position: Lunaki Howler

- 7 mana and so low stats but as the last one Frontier cards are just little weaker in general
- Main thing i was after was his 1 magic damage anyway so I really did not worry about the other stats
4th Position: Water-Logged Wizard

- Next up in line is Water-Logged Wizard
- And again just sad stats for a 6 mana level 3 monster but you get what you get
- One thing that made in better on paper at least was her Deflect ability
- If I am not mistaking the ability is totally useless in Frontier battles as there are non Magic Reflect or Blast monster to be played
- Deflect - 0 damage from Corrosive Ward, Magic Reflect, Thorns, Return Fire, and Blast splash damage
5th Position: Saltwater Mage

- Now onto my two main carries for this team starting with Saltwater Mage
- The main reason why I really love these last two monsters are because the start off with 2 magic damage making them deal a huge amount of damage each round
- The sad thing about Saltwater Mage for this battle at least was his Sneak ability
- As Sneak is over Snipe when it comes to ability straight Saltwater Mage was going to attack the last monster in my enemies lineup solo
- If it was my pick I would 100% let him use the Snipe ability and attack the same enemy monster all of my other magic monsters were going to attack
- Sneak - Targets the last Unit on the enemy Team instead of the first Unit
6th Position: Mystic Scaleweaver

- And for last but not least my most pride possession Mystic Scaleweaver
- Definitely the best legendary you could get in a drop or in the pack, somehow I have managed to pack him most of my legendary pulls allowing me to sell the rest and buy other cards from the market
- But as far as the stats on this bad boy go again stating with 2 magic damage + high hit points and for last but not least the Slow ability
- At first the Slow might seem a little useless or with too little of effect but I really like it as it allows me to get most of my attacks off before my enemy
- That in some cases takes down a enemy monster before he even has the chance to attack
- Slow - -1 speed to all enemy units

Starting board

- Already after seeing the starting board I knew even tho I was 1 level up on my enemy with my summoner the battle was going to come down to who gets there attacks off before
- As couple of my monsters were 1 level higher they were 1 speed faster and that came me hope on this battle most likely going my way
- But my predictions could still be off by a mile so lets start the battle and have a look how this battle folded out

Here's how the battle went
1st Round

- After the first round the board was still looking quite the same as in the start
- I had sadly lost my first magic monster while my enemy only lost his non damaging tank
- The next round was going to most likely be the one that decides the outcome of the entire battle as if I get to attack first I would take down possible two enemy monsters lowing his damage by a mile on the other hand if my enemy gets to attack first the same can happen to my monsters leaving me in a desperate spot
- But anything could still happen so lets keep watching
2nd Round

- After 2nd Round I was starting to look really scary at first but then I saw that I was going to take down his Water-Logged Wizard faster than he could take down mine
- But I also saw that both of our Saltwater Mage were going to finally take down each others Mystic Scaleweavers
- Just by looking at the board I felt like I was I bit ahead but I was not 100% sure
- Lets hope for the best and keep watching
3rd Round

- The battle board finally looked quite decent for me
- I was going to take down his Saltwater Mage with my Water-Logged Wizard leaving him in a 1v3
- After that i felt like there was no hope for my enemy to win this battle anymore
- Even if he managed to attack before my Saltwater Mage and take down both of my 1st and 2nd position monsters I still have 3 magic damage in this round going to take him down
- Now I just needed to wait for the start of the next and final round and then face my victory
4th Round

- It took me 1 entire round to kill my enemies last standing monster
- After his Saltwater Mage and Great Bear Druid had fallen I took the victory

Summary
- This battle was definitely closer than I would have wanted but still fun to watch
- The strategy to take away from this battle is the basic Water magic comp which in my opinion is one of the strongest comps in Frontier mode
- This battle was mostly won because of the level diff but that aside the only team that can regularly defeat this team is the Death Void comp
