Splinterlands Battle Of The Week: The perfect counter

The Ruleset

• Rulesets - Noxious Fumes & Taking Sides
• Mana Cap - 22
• Active Elements -

Here's my starting lineup

Summoner: Tarsa

• With the ruleset and element pick that I got I needed to play a element where I had the best Noxious Fumes team
• Also because of Taking Sides was active and only half of the elements were on the table the options were quite narrow
• So in my case I went with fire element and Tarsa as I had a great melee team in mind

1st Position: Grum Flameblade

• Grum Flameblade was my main tanks for this battle
• Main reason I like Grum Flameblade here a lot is his Bloodlust ability
• Even tho Grum Flameblade would get damaged by Noxious Fumes I still played him because I was going to Cleanse him
• Bloodlust - Every time this Unit defeats an opponent, it gets +1 to all stats
• Void Armor - Magic attacks hit this Unit's armor before its Health
• Void - Reduced damage from Magic attacks by 50%

2nd Position: Scavo Chemist

• Next up in line is my cleansing monster
• His entire reason in this battle was to Cleanse my Grum Flameblade
• Once the battle started I realized that the 3rd position would have been better as he is fast and tanky enough to get his Cleanse off before he might get killed but incase he does not, he might survive to also Cleanse Tenyii Striker once he falls into the 1st position but for this battle I felt it was fine enough
• Cleanse - Removes all negative effects on the Unit in the first position on the friendly team

3rd Position: Tenyii Striker

• Last but not least was a single Sneak monster
• I mainly played him because he was a strong backline tank and a heavy hitter
• And my second reason was that I only had 5 mana left and all of the other good picks were more than that
• Sneak - Targets the enemy unit in the last position
• Dodge - +25% chance to evade physical attacks

Starting board

• Already after seeing the starting board I was confident I would win because I managed to totally counter my enemies entire board
• Both magic monsters were countered by my Grum Flameblade Void and his ranged monster was countered by single Sneak attack and a Noxious Fumes damage
• Secondly my summoner was higher level than my enemies which made my whole team higher level
• But my predictions could still be off by a mile so lets start the battle and have a look

Here's how the battle went

1st Round

• First round nothing interested happened
• I did managed to hit my Sneak attack tho so his Axemaster was going to fall in the start of the next round to Noxious Fumes
• Also the next attack coming from my Sneak is going to his 2nd position magic monster which if not missed would take him down and leave my enemy with only one monster remaining
• Anything could still happen so lets keep watching

2nd Round

• After 2nd Round the battle board was almost entirely empty
• At this point there was no way my enemy could somehow win this battle
• If my Grum Flameblade should manage to hit his attack the next round was going to be the last for this battle and if not I have time to wait couple more as his was only dealing 2 damage per round which came me 5 rounds in total to finish off his last monster
• Lets hope for the best and keep watching

3rd Round

• It took me both attacks to kill my enemies last standing monster
• After his Djinn Oshannus had fallen I took the victory

Summary

• This battle was definitely heavily one sided but still fun to watch
• The strategy to take away from this battle is the basic Cleanse ability in Noxious Fumes ruleset battles which should not come as an surprise but what made the battle so easy was just my luck at playing the perfect team to counter my enemies one
