SPINEBACK TURTLE - Weekly Battle Challenge

avatar

The Share Your Battle Challenge, this week features the Spineback Turtle, I used to play this card alot when it was still part of the ghost starter cards.

The match rules consist of Aim True where melee and range attacks always hit and by looking at the available elements, there is a high chance life will be chosen as it has pretty powerful range units.

The Star of the show

The Spineback Turtle is a melee attack tank type monster and at level 1 has 1 attack, 1 speed with 2 armor and 6 health. the amount of health and armor given is pretty decent for only 4 mana cost as it allows the Turtle to take quite a few hits before it is taken down as the armor can soak up non-magic hits allowing the turtle to last longer

Supporting cast

For my secondary tank I went with the kelp initiate as it has a low cost of 2 and a pretty high health pool at 5, making it great at delaying damage to my main damage dealers.

for my main damage dealers I went with 3 units, a Djinn Oshannus, a Ice Pixie and the Axemaster. Djinn Oshannus was placed in the third slot of the team as it does have void to reduce possible magic damage and has a high health pool at 10 allowing it to protect the softer targets behind. Ice pixie was chosen as it does magic damage and has a low cost. Axemaster was chosen as it does a lot of damage with its double strike.

The only support unit chosen was Merdaali Guardian for its Tank heal to allow my tanks to last a few more turns

The Summoner

Kelya Frendul was the chosen summoner as it gives an extra armor to all units allowing units to take one extra hit and an increase of speed so that my units may attack first, speed for dodging is useless as True Aim makes it so my units are unable to dodge hits.

Looking my opponent line only 3 units will target my Spineback turtle and the most painful one is going to deal 4 range damage every turn.

2.jpg
Thanks to the armor on the Spineback it managed to survive the onslaught with some help from the healer, it probably only last till the end of the turn
3.jpg
Definitely the armor given from the summoners skill helped a lot as it prevented my axemaster and ice pixie from dying earlier on,
4.jpg
it does not look good for my line up as they outnumber me 5 to 3 but the axemaster's double strike shines through and melts the Truthspeaker and removes the armor buff from the enemy team
5.jpg
Traded the axemaster for 2 of their units now only Djinn Oshannus and Merdaali Guardian healing Djinn Oshannus and allowing him stay in an healthy range
6.jpg
as u can see the armor from the summoner is putting in the works allowing Merdaali Guardian to stay alive from those sneak attacks
7.jpg
Pushing the range unit to the front, disabling its attack allowing for an easy clean up as Djinn Oshannus still has max health

8.jpg
well basically we won at this point leaving the last unit that does 2 damage when Djinn Oshannus still has 10 health
9.jpg
trading blow for blow the end result would be Djinn Oshannus winning with 4 health remaining

Spineback played a decent role in this battle as it protected the weaker units in the backrow for at least 2 turns allowing them to clean up the enemy's taunt tank if another unit was in front the battle might not have went in our favor

all in all, the spineback turtle is a decent tank for its cost would work for lower mana battles, in this battle due to true aim it was better to use spineback rather than another tank as dodging would not have worked.

Thanks for the battle challenge curation team, it was kind of fun to play with the Spineback Turtle again after a while😄
