In this week's battle challenge we have Cursed Windeku from the Death Splinter. Cursed Windeku is a damage dealing, thorn wielding, self healing, speed reducing, tank of the death splinter faction. This monster is great to use in all mana battles, with its relatively low mana cost and high health survive ability. Let's take a look at this monsters stats below.

Level 1: Cursed Windeku has Thorns (Thorns ability does damage back to the attacker when hit by melee attack).

Level 5: This monster receives another ability called Heal (Heal ability restores a portion of this monsters health each round).

Level 8: The last level this monster receives Slow (Slow ability which reduces the speed of all enemy monsters).

You also gain passive stats at certain levels which include damage, speed, and health.

Let's take a look at how I use Cursed Windeku:

In modern silver league I use this monster in all possible rulesets. When the death splinter is allowed to be a chosen deck you can use. This monster is a staple for building your death splinter deck. I usually pair this monster with summoner Thaddius Brood. But in the match below I rented a Byzantine Kitty which is a dragon summoner. Let's take a look at my strategy and see if it worked.

My Cursed Windeku Battle:

In this battle we have Dragon splinter versus Life splinter. The ruleset for this battle is Back to Basics and Briar Patch.
Back to Basics ruleset strips the monsters of their all their abilities. Which means they can only attack with their passive damage. And Briar Patch ruleset gives monsters Thorns ability. This causes damage to melee attackers.

Before the battle began I looked at my opponents teams and level of cards they had been using. I also looked at the ruleset and splinter choices we were given. The choices we had were life, death, and dragon. So with rulesets we were given I knew this battle would not be a heavy melee battle. I believe Back to Basic ruleset relies heavily on the summoners passive abilities you receive. As well as low mana cards with high health and speed, that can attack from distance. This why I chose Byzantine Kitty summoner. Byzantine Kitty gives +2 speed, heal for monster in the first position, and true strike which gives monsters cannot miss attacks. Now to my positioning.

In first slot I used Carrion Shade to take the initial hit and save my tank some damage. Basically a buffer before they stared attacking my tank.

In the second slot I chose the star of the weekly Battle Challenge Cursed Windeku to soak up damage. With 10 health and each monster only attacking once per round. I knew it would take a round or 2 to kill my tank. Especially while receiving heals from our summoner Byzantine Kitty.

In the third slot I chose Life Sapper for the magic damage and health. Magic damage attacks enemies health directly even if they have shield.

In the fourth slot I chose Revealer for the magic damage and health.

In the fifth slot I chose Tortisian Chief for the magic damage and health.

In the sixth slot I chose Magi of Chaos for the magic damage and health.

This educated guess strategy worked well in my favor. I would use the same team over again if the circumstances permitted.

Conclusion of my thoughts on Cursed Windeku:

This monster card is amazing. It is a must have card when building or renting a Splinterlands account. I find this monster so useful in all leagues of modern and wild. If you don't have this card in your death deck at ur disposal you should look into buying it or renting it.

Thank you for checking out my Weekly Battle Challenge! Happy New Year and enjoy playing Splinterlands!
