Rebellion Reward Card Preview: Quilliun Legionary

Welcome #Splinterlands battlemages to my preview of new Rebellion reward cards. Today I share the rare earth monster, Quilliun Legionary.

Before we jump into the stats, let's take a look at the origins of this earth monster.
Species: Mammalian
Race: Rodentia
Subrace: Quillian
Special: None
Splinter: Chaos Empire
Aspect: Ranger
So here we have a range attack rodent that is loyal to the Chaos Empire. Sounds to me like it is part of the problem, not part of the rebellion. Anyway, let's see how this monster stacks up at max level:

WOW! Another rare Rebellion monster (and the first in the earth element) with the powerful bloodlust ability that is familiar to all Gladiators. With close range, thorns, and void, Quilliun Legionary is a range monster who looks willing and able to step up as a tank.
Although a range monster itself, Quilliun Legionary seems especially good against melee attackers with its thorns and magic attackers with its void. Its 2 speed is a bit on the slow side, but earth is well known for its strength in reverse speed battles so Quilliun Legionary will fit right in for that strategy.
But what if you don't play at max level? No problem! I've got you covered for all levels of this rare card. Check out the stats progression:

Notice the 2 speed and 2 attack stay constant for all levels of the card, as well as the close range ability to attack from 1st position.
At Bronze league max (Level 2), it gains thorns.
At Silver league max (Level 4), it gains an additional health and void.
At Gold league max (Level 6), it gains additional health and armor.
Only at Diamond league max (Level 8), does it finally gain the powerful bloodlust ability.
While I don't think this rare will be a format-defining all-star for the earth team like Mycelic Slipspawn, I do think it has a lot of utility for the earth team, especially when melee or magic is not available for selection. Only time will tell how important this card is for earth, but I've got a feeling this is one monster who can really shine under the right battle rules.
Before I wrap this up, let's learn a little bit more about one specific Quilliun Legionary from the Splinterlands lore.

"Quilliuns mainly inhabit the Wild Northeast’s Northeast Machair and Drybone Badlands, with more than a few prickles under the banner of the Drybone Anarchists. Others reside in the Land of Prosperity and the cities of the Mox Confederation.
Zuriktal Varsha is of the latter. A citizen of Mox City, he is a mercenary by trade and offers his services to the highest bidder without compunction. Whether it be escorting a wealthy merchant across the Grand Praetorian Plain or assassinating a virtuous priest, if the price is right, he’ll accept any job.
Pragmatic by nature, he was quick to enlist in the legions of the Chaos Empire following its conquest of Praetoria. He now patrols the streets of Mox City, using his authority to take what he wants and do what he pleases.
And there are few able to oppose him. Zuriktal has devoted his life to conditioning his mind and body. He is a fury in battle and highly skilled in armed combat, although he’s just as apt to swing his quilled tail like a club or launch himself bodily at rebels and others who oppose the empire… or anyone else who gives him a crosswise look."
