What is Splinterlands?

Splinterlands is a card game, similar with Hearthstone and Legends of Runeterra, where you can play battle against other players to get a better rank or in tournaments for awesome rewards !! It is a NFT game based on Hive Blockchain, but the crypto rewards - DEC is the name of the token can be used on ETH, TRX, WAX and Binance Smart Chain.

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card or a specific splinter (faction) and on this week's post it is the Dragon Splinters.

DRAYKH-NAHKA the land of dragons!

For this challenge, I plan to use the Drake of Arnak card. I also encourage Splinterlands Players to take part in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process + is a lot of fun !

DRAKE OF ARNAK

Drake of Arnak is an amazing summoner RARE card with a mana cost of four with the power to increase the armour of friendly cards by one. It is part of the UNTAMED edition and can be upgraded up to level eight.

Enough talk, let's get this dragon a fight !!! You can see my entire match here.

For the Challenge, this were the starting conditions : Mana Limit: 25

Rulesets: None (Lucky me <3 )

Teams:

Mine

  • Summoner: Drake of Arnak (All friendly Monsters have +1 Armor) with Water Splinter chosen to be used.
    • Serpent of Eld as tank, with Dodge (crazy skill if you are fighting lots of Melee and Ranged monsters).
    • As for the back line we got a Magic damage arsenal with a splash of Ranged damage in the last position. I chose Elven Mystic followed after by Medusa (the same monsters with 4 mana cost, 1 magic damage, 2 speed and 3 health but one of them is neutral) I love to put them after the tank because they can eat 1-2 hits before they die and the backline can shine in the battle if they can survive at least 1 attack from the opponent. After this 2 guys I used my favorite water mage the Ice Pixie, she is the most used water card from my deck, at the cost of 2 mana we have a 3 speed and 1 health monster, very squishy but today the monster that has the role of "protect" my Pixie is the Centaur, a 4 mana cost 3 speed and 4 health and 1 ranged attack with a beautiful snipe attack is the perfect card to fill the remaining 4 mana and a lot of health to survive and protect the Pixie from Sneak attackers.

Opponent

  • Summoner: Mother Khala (All friendly Monsters have +1 Health)
    • The Shieldbearer with taunt ( All enemy Monsters target this Monster (if they are able to) in first position backed up by Silvershield Knight in second position with Inspire (Gives all friendly Monsters +1 Melee attack.) and followed by Divine healer with Tank Heal ability ( Restores a portion of the monster in the first position's health each round.) and in the last position was the all mightyyy Cave Slug with the Opportunity ability (Monsters with the Opportunity ability may attack from any position and will target the enemy Monster with the lowest health.)
  • A very good team if I were a Melee and Ranged focused damage team, too bad for him.

The fight :

  • After the 3 rounds in a row the Flying ability of the Pixie shines after the Cave slug tried to destroy her armor, the slug missing the attack round after round, he finally gets a shot of her in round 4 taking out the 1 armor that the fantastic Drake of Arnak has given the team. In this round the Shieldbearer is taken out of the board, the Divine healer couldn't keep him for more rounds alive.
  • Serpent of Eld survived like a beast till round 5 with his dodge ability and extra armor he tanked the team like a champ !! But he didn't died alone, he too with him in the grave the Silvershield Knight.
  • Round 6 was the moment when the support Divine Healer followed Silvershield Knight and only the Cave Slug remained in the opponents board.
  • In the last round (8) the Cave Slug died and my Elven Mystic survived 2 attacks, all thanks to Drake of Arnak and his +1 armor to all of his friends.

Conclusion

The battle went exactly as planned. I was really hoping that I will fight a melee or ranged opponent. The Drake of Arnak shined really well in this fight with his +1 armor keeping my squishy magic dealer team survive 1 extra attack keeping my cards alive long enough for me to take down one by one of my opponent's monster.

As for my opponent's side, I would of probably focused more on not picking so many support monsters and try to make more damage dealing monsters.
What did you think of my match ? Was there anything you would of done differently ? Let me hear your thoughts in the comments bellow !

Best of luck, dvile
