Burning Cards for Cinder

Well as I am getting back into posting again, I have been spending a bit of time with Splinterlands assets, engaging "the churn", as we call it. And part of that churn is the new, extra-burning mechanism just introduced, "Cinder". Now we are burning assets for cinder, not even for the DEC it contains, although someone in #tavern told me it still gives a +5% bonus if the cards are maxxed, so at least I have that going for me.

And what a burn it was! Still targeting max rf common chaos reward cards. Take a look at this doozy of a burn:

149 max cards, at 400 BCX each is 59,600 of these cards just burned, which is north of 1% of the total BCX supply of this out of print reward card:

Now not everyone is equally happy about this, you can see the basic arguments from the other side of the aisle, so to speak, in this post from land baron's channel - one thing you have to give credit to Splinterlands is that there is always someone praising and someone complaining, every single thing, and often multiple people. It really does put some perspective on both "building" in a open and decentralized way, as well as the importance of centralized authority in many areas.

At least, we get to see always the arguments play out and judge ourselves which things are important on the margin.

I have to admit, as land eats more and more assets from "the old game", what will come of markets, and the "old nfts". What Splinterlands is doing is like nothing else - they are still going! With the same baggage, and now burning it in multiple ways..... maybe its brilliant?

The answer to "what will new players do", is the same as it ever was... there are always new card sets coming out. It has to be this way. Its possible that Praetoria is a whale island, but if the team keeps pressing forward, I think it will fill up eventually, possibly at different levels of efficiency, perhaps the "old whales" will always be there.

Anyway, we are happy to have "cinder to spare", this time and will be getting as deep into "labor's luck" as we can. We want some foiled versions! So burn away!
