RE: Pay for a wildpass in Splinterlands to play every season? WTF?

Jeetje, thats a bummer.

I never played Splinterlands, but isnt the game interesting enough when e.g. money wasn't part of the game?
Putting up 'paywalls' - so to speak - is never a good idea imho, certainly not when one likes to grow in users/players and all those are even worse of than you, not having anything in and around Splinterlands.

I guess the big boys are perfectly ok with how Splinterlands is sailing; HIVE Proposal system is giving out a staggering 0,5 Million Dollars to the team building and running the game. I don't have any opinion on it, since I don't know Splinterlands; I can't judge if this is money well spent.

Perhaps you shall get a tiny part from this funding; To cover the periodical DEC. Do they have a support desk? Perhaps request 'players' support 🎶

ps how was your ADE? mine turned out to be much more time spent in clubs than I expected. started with Nils Frahm (DGTL) on Friday and ended with Eerste Communie in the former bajes.

The game went through all different kinds of phases ofcourse over the years. In the glory days the card market was alive and florishing and that also led to a lot of abuse and milking the system, so I get it that was all not sustainable at all.

I liked the phase where there were treasure chests as reward boxes, 90% of the time nothing would come out of them but sometimes there would be a cool goodie, and yeah it was a lot more about playing the game then. I agree, it doesn't have to be about rewards at all, but there has to be a way to level up in something without continueing to spend and spend and spend. A player should be able to play his way higher, same like in every other game there is, get and win items...make your character stronger.

The economy of this game has gotten challenging, that is once thing I do know. And if that money is well spend, I think it is...because they are always trying to find ways to make the game sustainable and that is not easy at all. I have faith.

What I mentioned in the post, it is only about 9 hive to play every two weeks, but if I am not liking this fact and I already have a nice and old stack of cards...how will others start to play...It jsut isn't attractive to pay to play.

hahah that sounds like it was a decent ADE for you even if it wasn't anticipated hahah. I wasn't feeling the vibes very well I have to admit, so bailed and didn't make it a big one. Ben Sims was decent though!

I get you regarding the 9 HIVE. Doesn't sound much, but still, its a few dollars. For a large part of the world that is serious money. True, one shall be able to progress without smashing monetary funds into the game itself. I hope SPL peeps read your post and the comment section and take all this as a must-listen-too advice and act accordingly. Time will tell 🪄

Am glad you got at least some decent music thrown at you. Amsterdam was full of peeps. The nightly trips from the North to the South side made me have to wait for the next pond to cross the river, busy busy busy. I prefer the non-ADE weekend outs more, to be honest. 🎶
