The flow of life passes by while the fisherman waits patiently on the riverside.
He is not fishing for a trout, no. This fisherman waits for salmon to jump out of the water. The fish famous for going against the current.
He only catches the fish that don't follow the current. When they jump, they almost immediately feel the strong grip of his old hands around them. No chance of escaping. The dry hands cancel the effects of the slippery salmon's skin. His hands and his fisherman's hat is all he needs. No fancy fishing rods, no extravagant hooks, no special bait, only hands and hat.
All these fish end up in his basket. He takes them home where he rips their head off and eats them raw.
He is known as "Mellog" the gray. Some may think that he is called "the gray" because of his hair or beard color, considering he is quite old.
But the actual reason this old man gets called "gray" is because of his skin color. Not just a slight tint of gray or one tiny spot on his skin, but his whole body, from top to toe, is ash gray.
Many people think this may be due to a disease of some sort but that is not the cause.
His skin absorbs the color of the souls he consumes. The first day of his existence this same skin was bright green.
Now, a few million time units later it has turned ash gray.
Maybe one day he will achieve a bright, blinding, white.
Only time will tell...
Or not? Is he the one that tells time?
