Why Monero is special

XMR, in my opinion, is the only cryprocurrency that meets the criteria of "crypto" and "currency". The only thing "crypto" about other coins is their use of cryptographic functions, they're not actually κρυπτός, as in they are not hidden or secure.
And to be a currency, they need to be usable to purchase things, not glorified stocks.
XMR isn't an investment though. It has nothing to do with finance and all that. It's a tool. And it does a better job at being a tool since it isn't traceable. The fact it's unattractive as an asset decreases its volatility so much that it improves its function as a... you know, currency.
Most crypto"currencies" are closer to hedge funds than actual currencies.
Monero is also special in that it's actively developed specifically to fight off any attempts at GPU or ASIC mining like is usually done.
I always think about how I was hearing about Monero and how to buy it back when it was worth trillionths of a penny and needed you to go through like 15 exchanges to buy.
I would never advise buying monero as a way of making money, it's a way of sending (and maybe storing) money.
You need a cryptobro userbase to make a shitcoin, monero's userbase is people selling thinkpads.
