[EN/PT] Battle Mage Secrets! Counterspell
[EN]
Hello Splinter Fanatics!
Another week has passed and we're back with another 👉Battle Mage Secrets, where battle masters reveal their deepest secrets about the Ruleset. This event is promoted by @splinterlands so that players can share their strategies.
Splinterlands is an incredible strategy game with endless possibilities due to the countless Summoners, Monsters and Rule Sets. What determines the best Summoners and Monsters is basically the Rule Set. This week's Rule Set Secret shared in this post is Counterspell.
All monsters of receive the ability Magic Reflect |
The first thing players think when they see this Rule Set is not to use Magic damage monsters, because part of the damage will be returned to the monster that cast it. That's why it's common to see players using Melee and Ranged damage monsters, in order to escape the returned damage.
However, there are players who still prefer to use monsters with Magic damage, to surprise their opponents. For this, Summoners and Monsters with the ability Void are used, which will reduce or even nullify the reflected Magic damage.
In this situation I like to use the Summoner IMMORTALIS, who grants the ability Void and Shatter to all allied monsters and (-1) health to all enemy monsters, in my opinion the best Summoner for this strategy.
The danger of this strategy is that the opponent uses a Monster or Summoner that has the ability Amplify and the Magic damage returned increases by (+1).
In this sense, another Summoner that can be used in battles with this combat rule is GRANDMASTER RATHE, which grants an ability Amplify, which boosts the effect of the Magic damage returned by (+1).
So, as we're not sure which strategy the opponent will use, it's good to be prepared to face all kinds of attacks: Melee, Ranged and Magic. So, in this situation, choosing IMMORTALIS and combining it with monsters that have the Shield ability is an excellent strategy for first-rank tanks.
Now there's nothing better than a battle to put the concepts and strategies presented so far into practice!
The battle took place in the Silver League, in Modern mode, and featured the following Rule Set: Fire & Regret and Counterspell. Plus all the Splinters available, except Death, and only 21 mana.
Even with the low amount of mana available, I opted to choose the legendary summoner GRANDMASTER RATHE, as we have two combat rules that return damage. This summoner's Amplify ability will be very useful. My opponent also thinks similarly to me and has chosen the same summoner. On top of all this, Splinter Vida has excellent options for low mana monsters.
My line-up strategy:
In the first position, I chose PELACOR CONJURER as the main tank, as he has a lot of health and high speed, as well as the abilities Flying and Magic reflect.
In second position, I've deployed VULGUINE as a sort of secondary tank. He can't attack until he reaches the first position, but he accumulates HP as the monsters are defeated.
In the next position I've purposely staggered VENARI MARKSRAT, because due to the ranged damage returned it will be quickly defeated, thus activating the Martyr ability, increasing the power of the adjacent monsters.
In fourth position I chose STITCH LEECH, which has melee damage and the Sneak ability.
In the next position I chose CELESTIAL HAPPY, which also has melee damage and the ability Opportunity.
In the last position I chose URAEUS, who has a melee attack and also the Sneak ability. |
Come check out the battle!
In this battle, it's clear that both my opponent and I are hostage to Melee damage monsters. And to prove it, just look at the line-up of monsters in the battle.
If you look closely, the opponent's strategy was analogous to mine, with a resistant tank in the first position. What's more, we both deployed VENARI MARKSRAT to be killed and activate the ability Martyr.

In the third round, my opponent lost several units. And one thing that became clear is that we managed to scale more monsters than our opponent and made better use of the available mana.
In this round, our opponent's VENARI MARKSRAT was defeated and we increased the power of our opponent's last two monsters. Meanwhile, our team had only lost one unit, URAEUS.
Finally, our VENARI MARKSRAT was defeated and increased the power of VULGUINE and STITCH LEECH. VULGUINE with his Scavenger ability has accumulated a lot of health.
We've reached the end of the battle, as we have three monsters against just the opponent's tank. Even though we didn't use our summoner's abilities efficiently, it was an excellent strategy.
In today's battle, we were under the influence of two rulesets: Fire & Regret and Counterspell. As a result, we were led to choose the GRANDMASTER RATHE Summoner, to amplify all the damage returned and also add extra protection with its armor.

A habilidade Amplify deste invocador será bastante útil.
Venha Conferir a Batalha!
