[EN/PT] Overview of Splinterlands' New Abilities
[EN]
Hello Splinter Fanatics!
With the arrival of the Rebellion Edition four new skills will be implemented. The new edition of Rebellion will be released soon, and you can read about all the details of this new collection here on official post.
The Rebellion edition will feature 96 new cards, as well as new abilities and new gameplay never before seen in Splinterlands.
New Abilities!
Armored Strike - Any unit with this ability gains an additional melee attack using its Armor stat. This ability wasn't very clear to me, but I believe it will sacrifice part of the Armor stat of the monster that has this ability in exchange for increasing the melee attack.
The ability Armored Strike combats perfectly with monsters that have a lot of Armor left over or when there is a monster on the team with the ability Protect or the Rule Set Armored Up . In addition, it will have excellent synergy with monsters that have the ability Inspire or Summoners that increase (+1) damage in melee .
Corrosive Ward - When it hits with a melee attack, a unit with this ability deals 2 damage to the attacker's Armor and reduces the attacker's maximum Armor by 2. This ability is very similar to the ability Cripple , which reduces the damaged monster's maximum health by 1.
This is an excellent skill to counter strategies that focus on armor repair using the skill Repair . Because there are battles in which armor repair becomes even more powerful than the skill Heal or Tank Heal.
This is a passive ability and depends on the luck that the opponent will use monsters with a lot of armor. Just like the ability Cripple I think the usability of this new ability will be low, just like the ability Cripple .
Flank - If the unit with this ability is in first position, then the unit in second position gains the ability Reach . This is likely to be an ability intended for monsters that have the attributes to be a main tank.
The monster in second position that receives Flank could be a monster with main tank characteristics. In this sense, Splinterlands has a huge variety of monsters with this characteristic, and it can sometimes be difficult to choose a tank due to the large number available. Another positive factor is that monsters with tank characteristics have a lower mana cost than similar monsters, but with the ability Reach , Opportunity or Sneak
Lookout - A unit with this ability results in adjacent allies receiving one less damage from attackers with the abilities Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity.
This is another passive ability, which depends on the opponent using monsters with these abilities on the field, in order to use these types of monsters. In reality, the best defense to protect yourself from monsters with the abilities Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity are monsters that have the ability Taunt , but there are situations in which the Ruleset Ferocity will be active or a monster with this ability exists on the field, so monsters with Taunt are not welcome.
So, the ability Lookout will be another alternative to defend monsters that have the function of support in our team, which most of the time have low health, or are target units of Snipes or are in the last position.
The monster with Lookout must have a lot of health, otherwise it will be targeted by monsters with Opportunity. In addition, its position on the field will always be intermediate: third, fourth or fifth. If the monster that has Lookout has low health, I think the ability Camouflage will be a perfect match for this type of monster.
We still don't have many details about the monsters that will have these abilities, in order to better assess how they will work and possible combos with existing monsters. Some of these abilities say a lot about the monster that will possess them, some abilities define what the monsters will be like, for example, the ability Taunt usually the monsters that possess it have a lot of health and armor.
The same applies to the skill Flank , which will certainly be a skill for monsters with tank characteristics of the first rank. And monsters with the ability Lookout will either have a lot of health or possess the ability Camouflage .
What do you think of these new skills that are coming with the Rebellion Edition? Which did you like best and least?
