[EN/PT] The most important update in Splinterlands: SPS Staking for legue!

Splinterlands is an amazing Card Game, in case you've fallen here by chance, this is the best #Play2earn there is. And this post is a weekly event held to spread the word about the @splinterlands universe on social media.

This week the Splinterlands community was very excited about the levels of SPS that must be staked in order to continue receiving the rewards of the game in full. This information was passed to the community through the Town Hall and at first many players were unhappy.

I am not even a tokenomics beast to know how this update will affect Splinterlands' economy. And so, this post exclusively portrays my opinion and what I will do about it.

I confess that I also received the news with sadness, as it is yet another barrier to entry for possible new players who wish to enter Splinterlands, and also the small players who have always focused on increasing their card collection instead of focusing on acquiring SPS, over time.

I myself am a Gold League I player and have always focused on reinvesting what I earn by buying cards, in order to rent as few cards as possible. So, since Gold I is my focus league I will need to purchase 58K SPS to meet the requirements of this update, and right now I only have about 10% of that amount.

Currently, the requirements to play in Gold League I are to have:

• 200K Collection Power (CP);
• 2500 rating;
• Cards with minimum level to receive rewards without nerfer;

And after this update to receive 100% of the battle rewards you will need to have 58304 SPS Staked, which at the current SPS rate ($0.021) equals about $1250 dollars, a very high amount for most players.

Certainly the SPS is at its lowest value historically since mid-2021. This update will certainly give SPS another use and further encourage players to keep their SPS staked.

Currently, the most cost effective league in relation to battle rewards and chest rewards is the Gold League. With the change, players remaining in Splinterlands will be able to continue playing in Gold League, but with reduced rewards based on the amount of their staked SPS or will be limited to playing in lower Leagues to ensure full rewards.

This new update will open the doors for SPS rental, currently it is possible to delegate SPS, but who delegates SPS loses the 20% APR profitability for the player who receives the delegated tokens. With SPS rental this will possibly not happen and players will rent SPS using the DEC token, similar to card rental.

I hope that SPS rentals are implemented before this update so that players who don't have enough SPS can get a secondary way to get it.

At first, this update may keep new players away, but it may also keep the bots away. We can't know for sure what the impacts of this update will be, but if there is a massive departure of bots we will see in the short term more drops in the market for rentals and card prices.

I still believe in Splinterlands for the long term, because the team managed to keep this game alive for about 5 years and even with the Bear market the game is still loved by many players.

Just like I did with my card collection I will start buying SPS every week, to slowly increase my amount of SPS staked. Second, the team will have until the end of the third quarter to prepare for this update.

By buying at least 500 SPS per week I will be able to reach the 11K SPS staked mark, which will allow me to play at least in Silver League I, until this update. However, if there are ways to increase the pace of these contributions I will do it. Below is a picture of my shy amount of SPS staked obtained only by playing Splinterlands.

So today's post was about my opinion about this change and what I will do, which will be small weekly contributions. I hope that this change can bring more positive than negative points when implemented and especially thinking about the long term.

Essa semana a comunidade Splinterlands ficou bastante movimentada com os niveis de SPS que deverão ser apostados, para continuar recebendo as recompensas do jogo de forma intergral. Essa informação foi passada para comunidade através do Town Hall e a principio desagradou a muitos jogadores.

Eu não sou nem um fera em tokenomics para saber como esta atualização afetará a economia de Splinterlands. E por isso, este post retrata exclusivamente minha opinião e o que farei a respeito disso.

Confesso que também recebi a notícia com tristeza, pois ela é mais uma barreira de entrada para possíveis novos jogadores que desejam entrar em Splinterlands, e também os pequenos jogadores que sempre focaram em aumentar sua coleção de cartas ao invés de focarem em adquirir SPS, ao longo do tempo.

Eu mesmo sou um jogador da Liga Gold I e sempre foquei em reenvestir o que ganho comprando cartas, a fim de alugar o mínimo possível de cartas. Dessa forma, como o Gold I é minha liga foco precisarei adquirir 58K SPS para atender os requisitos dessa atualização e no momento tenho apenas cerca de 10% dessa quantidade.

Atualmente, os requesitos para jogar na Liga Gold I é possuir:

• Cartas com nível mínimo para receber recompensas sem nerfer;

Certo que o SPS se encontra em seu menor valor historico desde meados de 2021. Essa atualização certamente dará mais uma utilidade ao SPS e incentiva ainda mais os jogadores a manterem seus SPS staked.

Atualmente, a liga de melhor custo benefício em relação as recompensas de batalhas e recompensas de baús é justamente a Liga de Gold. Com a mudança os jogadores que permanecerem em Splinterlands poderão continuar a jogar na Liga de Gold, porém com recompensas reduzidas em função da quantidade de seus SPS staked ou se limitarão a jogar em Ligas inferiores para garantir recompensas integrais.

Essa nova atualização abrirá as portas para o aluguel de SPS, atualmente é possível delegar SPS, porém quem delega SPS perde a rentabilidade de 20% APR para o jogador que recebe os tokens delegados. Com o aluguel de SPS possívelmente isso não acontecerá e jogadores alugaram SPS utilizando o token DEC, semelhante ao aluguel de cartas.

Espero que o aluguel de SPS seja implementado antes dessa atualização, pois assim os jogadores que não possuem SPS suficiente possam obter uma maneira secundária de possuirem.

Em um primeiro momento, essa atualização pode afastar novos jogadores, porém também pode afastar os bots. Não dar para saber ao certo quais serão os impactos dessa atualização, mas se houver uma saída massiva de bots veremos no curto prazo mais queda no mercado de alugueis e preços das cartas.

Eu continuo acreditando em Splinterlands para o longo prazo, pois a equipe consiguiu manter este jogo vivo por cerca de 5 anos e mesmo com o Bearmarket o jogo ainda é querido por muitos jogadores.

Assim como fiz com minha coleção de cartas começarei a comprar SPS toda semana, para ir ao poucos aumentando minha quantidade de SPS staked. Segundo, a equipe teremos até o fim do terceiro trimestre para se preparar para esta atualização.

Comprando no mínimo 500 SPS por semana conseguirei atingir a marca de 11K SPS staked, que permitirá jogar ao menos na Liga de Prata I, até essa atualização. Porém, se houver maneiras de aumentar o ritmo desses aportes o farei. Abaixo, segue imagem da minha timida quantidade de SPS staked obtida somente jogando Splinterlands.

Então, o post de hoje foi sobre minha opinião sobre essa mudança e o que farei, que serão pequenos aporte semanalmente. Espero que essa mudança possa trazer mais pontos positivos do que negativos quando implementada e principalmente pensando no longo prazo.
