Hello Splinterlands Fans

If there’s one thing that amazes me about Splinterlands, it’s the game’s ability to surprise us with the wide variety of strategies we put into practice on the battlefield. This week I was reviewing some of my battles, including a few featuring a monster I really like—but you have to know the right time to use it.

There are many cards I don’t use very often—some because they’re low-level, others because I can’t find good synergy with the cards I usually field. One monster I don’t use very often is Olivia of the Brook; her Mimic ability, which allows her to copy her opponent’s abilities each turn, made me think she should be a monster widely used by everyone.

But I was wrong, because this monster has low damage, despite having two types of damage—melee and magic—and also has low health and armor. Her abilities: Opportunity, Mimic, and Deflect aren’t enough to make her powerful; it takes patience and luck for her to accumulate useful abilities.

I like to use this monster when the Equalizer ruleset or Explosive Weaponry is active. In these situations, this card can be helpful in some way; with Equalizer, Olivia spends more time on the field, which helps her accumulate more abilities. And in the case of the Deflect ability, it can be the solution to minimize the damage caused by Blast.

The following battle featured all the Splinters except Fogo. In addition, there was 42 mana available, and the rulesets were: Junior Varsity (only monsters with a mana cost of 6 or less may be fielded) and Thick Skinned (all monsters gain the Shield ability).

That was a fierce battle; my opponent and I both chose the Dragon Splinter and the same Archon, Akane. However, while I chose Death as my main Splinter, my opponent chose Death as the Dragon’s support Splinter. Let’s see who comes out on top.

I fielded two monsters with the goal of mitigating the effects of the Explosive Weaponry ruleset. In the second slot was Olivia The Brook, and in the penultimate slot was Night Reaper, both with the Deflect ability. So, in a way, this will considerably reduce the damage caused by Blast.

The team composition was quite strategic on both sides, while my opponent chose a Splinter Death monster that I really like because of its impure healing ability. I chose Olivia the Brook, who has the ability to copy skills. So, choosing her is a matter of luck.

The lineup was built by trying to pick the most powerful monsters with the highest mana costs, yet I still had plenty of mana left over. The enemy tank has the Silence ability, but I only have two monsters with magic damage, so that didn’t affect me much. Diversification in investments and in Splinterlands is the biggest free lunch we have.

One thing that really hindered me in this battle was the ruleset that grants Shield. Since I didn’t have many monsters with magic damage, this reduced my damage output against my opponent. As a result, many of my attacks weren’t having any effect on my opponent. Looking at it this way, I was at a disadvantage; my opponent was suffering from it too, but to a lesser extent. This fact caused the battle to drag on a bit longer, which is good for Olivia The Brook, who can accumulate more abilities.

At that point in the game, Olivia managed to copy the opponent's impure healing ability, and that saved the battle, since only two monsters remained that were effectively dealing damage to the opponent. And incredibly, Olivia and Dragon Egg were responsible for our victory in that battle.

This battle was quite lengthy; one by one my team defeated the enemy monsters. And while that was happening, Olivia accumulated skills, until she reached a point where there was nothing left to copy.

This was a very close battle; at some point the game started to turn in our team's favor, and then I realized that victory was guaranteed.

Olá Splinter Fanáticos

Se tem uma coisa que me surpreende em Splinterlands é a capacidade que o jogo tem de nos surpreender com as mais diversas estratégias que colocamos em pratica no campo de batalha. Essa semana estava analisando algumas de minhas batalhas e algumas batalhas com um monstros que gosto bastante, mas tem que saber a hora certa de usar.

Existem muitas cartas que não utilizo com muita frequência, algumas por estarem em nível baixo outras porque não consigo encontrar uma boa sinergia com as cartas que geralmente escalo. Um monstro que utilizo não com muita frequência é Olivia of the Brook, sua habilidade Mimic, que permite que ele copie as habilidades dos oponente, a cada rodada, me fizeram pensar que ela deveria ser um monstro bastante utilizado por todos.

Mas, estava enganado pois esse monstro possui baixo dano, apesar de ter dois tipos de dano, melee e mágico, além de ter pouca saúde e armadura. Suas habilidades: Opportunity, Mimic e Deflect não são o suficientes para torná-la poderosa, é preciso paciência e sorte, para que ela vai acumulando habilidades úteis.

Eu gosto de utilizar esse monstro quando o Ruleset Equalizer ou quando Explosive Weaponry estão ativos. Pois nessa situações essa carta pode ajudar de alguma forma, em Equalizer Olivia passa mais tempo em campo, o que é favorável a acumular mais habilidades. E no caso da Habilidade Deflect pode ser a solução para miminizar os danos causados por Blast.

Na batalha a seguir contou com todos os Splinters, exceto Fogo. Além disso, havia 42 de mana disponível e os rulesets: Junior Varsity (somente monstro com mana menor igual a 6 podem ser escalados) e Thick Skinned (todos os monstros recebem a habilidade Shield).

Essa foi uma batalha acirrada, eu e meu oponente escolhemos o Splinter Dragão e o mesmo Archon, Akane. Porém, enquanto eu escolhi o Splinter morte meu oponente escolheu morte, como Splinter auxiliar do Dragão. Vamos ver quem se sai melhor.

A escalação foi bastante estratégica, de ambos os lados, enquanto meu oponente escolheu um monstro do Splinter Morte que eu gosto bastante devido sua habilidade de cura impura. Eu escolhi Olivia The Brook que possui a habilidade de copiar habilidades. Então, escolhê-la é algo que requer sorte.

A escalação foi feita tentando escolher os monstros mais poderosos e de maior mana, mesmo assim sobrou bastante mana. O tanque inimigo possui a habilidade Silence, porém eu apenas tenho dois monstros com dano mágico, então isso não me afetou muito. Diversificação nos investimentos e em Splinterlands é maior almoço grátis que temos.

Uma coisa que atrapalhou muito nessa batalha foi o ruleset que concede Shield. Como eu não tinha muitos monstros de dano mágico isso reduziu o meu poder de dano sobre o oponente. Então, muitos de meus ataques não estavam fazendo efeito no oponente. Olhando para isso eu estava na desvantagem, meu oponente estava sofrendo com isso, porém com menor intensidade. Essa fato fez com que a batalha se estendesse mais um pouco, isso é bom para Olivia The Brook, que consegue acumular mais habilidades.

Nessa altura do campeonato, Olivia consegui copiar a habilidade de cura impura do oponente e isso salvou a batalha, uma vez que restaram apenas dois monstros que efetivamente estavam dando dano ao oponente. E por incrível que parece, Olivia e Dragon Egg foram os responsáveis por nossa vitória nessa batalha.

Essa batalha foi bastante demorada, um a um meu time ia derrotando os monstros inimigos. E enquanto isso Olivia acumulava habilidade, até chega em certo ponto que não havia mais o que copiar.

Essa foi uma batalha bastante acirrada, em algum momento o jogo começou a vira para nosso time, então percebi que a vitória estava garantida.
