Hello Splinter Fanatics!

Change is always something that can cause a certain amount of discomfort at first, after all, what's new can cause a sense of fear and a departure from one's comfort zone. The Splinterlands team has come up with new updates, which you can check out in the official post: Splinterlands Ranked Reward Changes - Introducing Glint & The Reward Shop!

This post will be about my view as an old player on these updates, as I've been playing Splinterlands since the middle of 2021. I've been playing Splinterlands regularly for about three years and in that time I've seen a lot of changes to the game.

One of the things that always encouraged me to play Splinerlands was the random rewards in the daily rewards chests. They bring that air of mystery and anticipation of good rewards. I've had some fun with the luck factor on these rewards, whether it's winning gold foil cards or large amounts of SPS tokens.

Nowadays, it's notorious that the rewards from the chests are no longer great. For a long time now, it's been frustrating to open chests full of Portions and Merits, usually with few SPS and fewer Rewards Soulbonds than usual. That's my personal view, from a Gold League player in the Mordeno format.

The upcoming changes will put an end to the daily and end-of-season focus chests and replace them with a new token called Glint. This new token will not be transferable and will only be able to buy soulbond items, which cannot be sold and are tied to the soul of the player's personal account.

At first, I'm very sad about this change, after all, the surprise factor has always been something that gives the player hope of winning something good. However, according to the team there will be a store to buy cards, portions and even energy.

Those who play the Modern format will have an incentive to earn 50% more Glint tokens depending on the league they're in and the number of SPS staked, than players/bots who play the Wild format in the same condition.

I'm a Modern player, but I don't think it's fair to give such a big incentive to the Modern format. According to the team, it's to encourage more players to play Modern, but what about the players who have invested heavily in older card collections? Those cards will probably drop in price even more.

The same will happen with Chaos Legion cards when they are rotated to the Wild format. Their prices will probably drop, and this creates a big paradox, where players wonder whether it's worth buying cards from the Mordeno format.

The positive side of this update is that players will be able to buy the items they need with the Glint token directly from the store. I myself have several Legendary and Epic Soulbond cards that I'd like to level up.

After the April 2 update, Soulbond and Gladiator cards can be burned for Glint tokens. This way, players will be able to exchange their excess cards for other cards of their choice.

I remember that there was a promise to turn Rewards Soulbond cards into NFTs, which could be traded on the market. However, with these announcements it is clear that this will no longer be implemented.

The Glint token cannot be exchanged for SPS, so what will happen to the SPS that we eventually earned in chests? They will go into the reward pool, which will eventually increase the value of battle rewards.

There are many more details in the official post, which I strongly recommend you read. But overall, my opinion on all this is that Splinterlands is punishing old players in favor of trying to bring in new players and keep the game's economy healthy. Even so, I hope that this update will bring some fresh air to Splinterlands. What do you think of this new update?

I agree with you, I've been playing since 2021 too, and I realized that the purpose of the game is to evolve no matter what.....new or old doesn't matter it's the bussiness that matters to them, on the other hand how can you blame them, they put up a game that for now has no equal and I certainly won't stop playing it because I love it even if in times of difficulty and I don't have times I employ a bot.. .

I love Splinterlands too! And I'll keep playing, but I'm really sad that the daily focus and end-of-season bars are gone. I'm not very happy with these changes.

And about always evolving I agree with you, but I was frustrated when I invested efforts in having Untameds cards to be more competitive, then they were rotated from modern to wild and dropped drastically in price.

Thanks for commenting!

It happened like this to me with chaos too: I did so much to be competitive in gold, now with the latest changes I find myself fighting in silver with monsters and summoners at maximum levels, I understand you very well......
