Bring Out The Big Guns For Here Be Dragons!

Another week has come, time to share a battle! This week's theme is Dragons and since Halloween is around the corner, its time to let the spooks out with Delwyn Dragonscale!

Summoner Choice

image.png

Delwyn is a reanimated Dragon summoner and the only common summoner in the game. He comes with +1 magic but because he is a common, his summoning levels scale slower. He needs to be at level 3 to match the levels of a lvl 2 rare summoner.

Splinter Pairing

Why of course, there is only one acceptable pairing for a lvl 1 reanimated summoner, and that is.... life!

Yeap, you read right. At lvl 1, life has 4 non-legendary magic units with 2 damage as their base, though they cost quite abit of mana. When combined with Delwyn, they can pack quite a punch at 3 damage per unit.

So, lets's move on to the battle, and what better way to show it off than against water?

Battle Lineup

This was a 28 mana battle and legendaries weren't allowed. If you want to see the battle, here's a link.

My Lineup

  1. Crystal Werewolf - Quite possible the most important card if facing against water. Silence reduces magic attack by 1, similar to bortus. The werewolf should normally be further back, but will work just fine as a tank if you lack mana.

  2. Furious Chicken - It's a 0 mana unit that can function as cannon fodder to protect your backline, what's not to love?

  3. Lunakari Mistress - My usual secondary tank. Her oppress ability is amazing for breaking through no attack units like kelp and failed summoner. (though be careful of the reflect damage!)

  4. Light Elemental - At 4 mana, it's a good fit for medium mana amounts. It's also faster than life's other magic units thanks to its 3 speed. Do keep in mind that it's rather fragile with a base 2 hp. Personally I prefer to use temple priest if I value the hp more than speed.

  5. Djinn Renova - Probably your most important non-legendary magic unit. that + 1 hp to all units can be a massive game changer when units survive attacks they normally can't take.

  6. Serpentine Mystic - Wouldn't be a fair Dragon Challenge if I only used Delwyn after all. Jokes aside, the mystic's affliction is incredibly important if you suspect the opponent may have some form of healing. Plus, at 3 mana, it can be easily squeezed into comps without too much issue.

Now let's get into it!

Round 1

Kelp goes down in 2 hits without issue, unfortunately my werewolf also went down in round 1 which cancels the silence debuff, but it did its job.

Round 2

image.png

Lobstadamus' 1 speed meant it went down before it got a turn. Meanwhile, thanks to Renova's hp buff, lunakari barely survived the attack from captain's ghost and the sea genie.

Round 3

image.png

Light elemental's 3 speed meant medusa went down without a fight. Captain's ghost was taken out by the attacks from the other three. However, lunakari and the light elemental went down to counterattacks from the ghost and genie. At this point, the game was has been decided and the genie went down in Round 4.

If you want to see the battle yourself, you can see the replay here.

Personal Thoughts

I honestly love Delwyn. Being able to field 4 magic units at lvl 1 that deal 3 magic damage means you can deal a rather ridiculous amount of damage per turn. Unfortunately it still suffers against anti-magic builds, though it is satisfying to burn through an oshannus with brute force.

Well, that's all folks! If you enjoyed it, do leave an upvote, and if you want to try out the game for yourself, you can do so through my referral link here.
