Share Your Battle Time! Say Hello To The Elven Cutthroat!

Well ain't this a nostalgic card for this week's battle sharing theme. I remember running this quite alot in fire and life back when I first started. So let's get right into this shall we?

Elven Cutthroat Stats And Personal Opinion

image.png

I'll be upfront about it. This is not a good card. Each class has its own sneak card that outclasses this such as feral spirit, kobold miner, sabre shark, hell even neutral now has Uraeus which completely outclasses it. This means its unlikely to be your go to option unless you aren't sure what else you want to put in. Fire and life come to mind as they have melee builds that can use sneak.

That said, at the time of writing its still in the starter set and if you're in bronze, you might as well give it a shot. Its 3 speed also means that, in the right conditions, it'll probably still find some use if you need to strike something quickly.

Battle Lineup

This battle was around 1800 rating in Silver, 19 mana, no healing, all units have the same hp as the highest hp unit on the field. If you want to see the battle yourself, here is the link.

My Lineup

  1. Living Lava - Strong Frontline Tank, since the matchup was fire splinter only I wasn't really concerned about magic.

  2. Furious Chicken - My cannon fodder. Its entire purpose was to distract snipe and opportunity from the rest of my lineup.

  3. Elven Cutthroat - Today's star for share your battle. Normally I'd choose to run kobold miner over this as its 2 mana compared to cutthroat's 3 mana.

  4. Serpentine Spy - 3 mana, 3 damage with Malric. Basically there just to be able to do damage to tankier stuff, like another living lava.

  5. Uraeus - Same mana cost but comes with armor and 1 more hp compared to elven cutthroat. Basically my go to sneak card.

As for my opponent.. Yeah, I have no idea why there's a cube.

Round 1

Round 1 ends with all units still alive. The opponent's spy attacked my living lava as no unit had been damaged at that point in time.

Round 2

image.png

Both chicken's and the opponent's cerberus go down. At this point, I have no more non-melee units so my opponent can only attack the living lava.

Round 3

image.png

Gelatinous Cube goes down, leaving only the beetle and spy. At this point, the match was pretty much decided.

Round 5

Couple of rounds later, Elven Cutthroat gets the final blow, ending the match with half my team unscathed. If you wanna see the match, here's the link.

Personal Thoughts

Like I mentioned earlier, I don't think elven cutthroat is a good card and is rather easy to switch out, especially once you start getting stronger options like uraeus.

True. Since the new reward card Uraeus the only situations where I think about playing Elven Cutthroat is with ruleset only common and rares or if I have to outspeed my opponent.

With the 1 HP I also play it in expected Fire mirror matches to take the opportunity hit from enemy Serpentine Spy. But if enemy fire team is with goblin shaman Uraeus would have 1HP and would survive due to the armor.
