The Curse and Blessing of RNG

avatar

Ello Everyone! You ever witnessed the game screw over someone so badly that you just have to wonder 'the heck did he do to offend RNG?' Well, I got one of those for ya thats so ridiculous even the chicken refused to die. The game itself was also rather interesting as the game mechanics somehow lined up properly to make my opponent skip attacks.

The Battle Lineup

Lets start with the obvious, this fight is 29 mana with no sneak or snipe allowed. However, opportunity cards, like the opponent's battering ram, are still allowed to bypass the frontline.

On my end, I noticed that water was banned and my opponent didn't seem to really use magic, so I decided to go brighton bloom, which had up to this point basically carried me straight through all of bronze.

Time to let the fun begin! If you wanna see it yourself, here's the battle link.

Round 1

Round 1 went about as you'd expect. My side attempting to beat down his shieldbearer while he tried to kill my Djinn Chwala. The only exception here is the battering ram which had opportunity. As my chicken had the lowest HP and was closer to the front than the ooze, it tried to attack the chicken and missed.

Round 2

Shieldbearer barely avoided death here, dropping down to 1 hp before getting saved by the crystalsmith. Meanwhile my Chwala lost its armor and the chicken continued to dodge the battering ram.

Round 3

At this point I'm convinced I accidentally summoned a bull fighter in a chicken suit as it continued to gracefully dodge the battering ram.

Meanwhile on the frontline, my chwala dodged the crystalsmith's attack and the shieldbearer went down before it had a chance to act. Due to how turn order and speed works, the Silvershield Knight had already skipped his turn due to being 'too fast' and thus did nothing.

Round 4

image.png

Sadly the ram and chicken didn't get a fourth round of playing... well, chicken, as the silvershield knight died from thorns damage, which led to the ram dying to Renova's magic.

Once again, turn order screws my opponent over as the cat can't attack because of its speed, it had already skipped its turn.

Round 5 & 6

image.png

By this point the match was over. My opponent had no way left to damage me after the feral spirit died, and by Round 6, I had won with all my team still alive and my Chwala walking off a flesh wound.

RNGesus is rarely on my side, so I usually have to account for that when fighting ;-;
