Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Clash of the Titans!

image.png

Hey folks, Welcome to this week's social media challenge for the online blockchain game #splinterlands. Here is the Link to enter the challenge.

Each week i will feature a different Monster + Ability with a Battle.

Lets take a closer look at the big eyeball known as Cornealus as he is one of my all time favourite monsters.

This really is an excellent monster with some serious stats and abilities. With the Heal ability at level 1 and 12 health he is a formidable opponent who is very hard to destroy. I would ùsually play him at level 2 in order to gain the Thorns ability which can be used to great effect in many different situations including the Melee Mayhem ruleset.

The best position for this monster is at the rear except in the Close Range ruleset.

Edition: Untamed

Rarity: Legendary
Element: Neutral
Attack: Ranged
Abilities:Healing at level 1, Thorns at level 2, Return Fire at level 3 and Magic Reflect at Level 4.

Abilities

HEAL: Restores a portion of the Monster's health each round Restores 1/3 of the max health, rounded down. Did you know: At lower levels, the Healing ability in the front position can go a long way. Affliction ans Stun prevents a monster to self-healing

THORNS: When hit with a Melee attack, does damage back to the attacker Has an upper cap of 2 Summoner Mylor Crowling gives this ability to every friendly monster at the start of a battle

RETURN FIRE: When hit with a Ranged attack, Monsters with Return Fire will return reduced damage back to their attacker Damage returned is equal to damage of attacker divided by 2, rounded up. Summoner Lir Deepswimmer gives this ability to every friendly monster at the start of a battle

MAGIC REFLECT: When hit with Magic damage, does reduced Magic damage back to the attacker Deals damage equivalent to the attacker's damage divided by 2, rounded up. The damage is reflected even if the attacker does not hit Summoner Owster Rotwell gives this ability to every friendly monster at the start of a battle

Lets take a closer look at the stats for this beast of a card.

As you csn see this really is a great card and at levrl 4 it is pretty much unstoppable!

Battle Info

This is a 54 mana level battle with all Splinters allowed except Death + Earth.

I have 6 cards in this battle against 6!

Life vs Death

Spreading Fury - All monsters have the Enrage ability.

It is advisable to avoid using the Blast ability in this ruleset.

Silenced Summoners - Summoners do not give any stat buffs or debuffs or grant/use any abilities.

Battle Line Up

Summoner: Chanseus The Great

This is an excellent summoner with some great abilities but none of them will be available due to the Silenced Summoners ruleset.

This was my only option for this battle. As he is a Legendary card he allows me to select higher level cards.

First Place: Goblin Mech

This was my go-to tank for a long time. As it is a Neutral card it can be played in almost any battle.

This monster has some impressive stats for a Common card. With 4 attack points at level 3 he is sure to cause some considerable damage to my opponent.

Second Place: Luminous Eagle

This Melee attack monster is in second place as it has the Reach ability. This will provide some much needed support to my Tank.

Third Place: High Priest Darius

This is a great Legendary monster with impressive stats at level 1. Darius also has the very excellent Resurrect ability which means when the first friendly monster is destroyed it will be resurrected with 1 health.

Fourth Place: Armorsmith

The Armorsmith is here to heal some of Goblin Mechs armour with the excellent Repair ability.

Fifth Place: Djinn Renova

This monster is in this position to provide Magic attack suport and to provide extra health to all my monsters with the Strengthen ability.

Sixth Place: Cornealus

This is a beast of a monster with 12 health and the Heal ability he will prove very hard to destroy.

Battle Walkthrough

As the warriors enter the battle arene we get our first loom at my opponent's line up. It looks like the have not paid proper attention to the Silenced Summoners ruleset as they have filled there line up with ranged attack monsters. Big mistake!

Round 1 begins with the enemies Countess Sinash monster killing Armorsmith. However he is quickly brought back to life by High Priest Darius and the Resurrect ability!

The round ends with my tank Goblin Mech wiping out the enemies tank Forgotten One.

Round 2 kicks off with Countesss Sinash killing Armorsmith for a second time.

The enemies War Chang monster attacks Goblin Mech making him Enraged and he immediately retaliates by destroying him with 5 hit points!

Sadly my tank is then destroyed by Lava Launcher!

My moster called High Priest Darius is then killed after taking multiple hits from Feraxia General and Mantoid.

Its not looking great as i only have 3 cards left against 4 but i am not concerned.

Round 3 begins and the enemies Countess Sinash then kills my Luminous Eagle which is not great. Only 2 monsters left!

Nice one. Lava Launcher has been obliterated after taking hits from both Djinn Renova and Cornealus 😁

Round 4 kicks off but we see no fatalities.

In round 5 Feraxia General is destroyed by Djinn Renova.

Round 6 sees no fatalities but Mantoid is destroyed at the start of round 7. Victory is assured at this point with Countess Sinash getting wiped out in round 8.

This was a really entertaining battle and i enjoyed it immensely. I will definitely use the same strategy and line up again.

Check out this Great Battle to see it in action!
