Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Special Chaos Legion Double Issue - Thaddius Brood + Cursed Windeku

Hey folks, Welcome to this week's social media challenge for the online blockchain game #splinterlands. Here is the Link to enter the challenge.

Each week i will feature a different Monster + Ability with a Battle. This week i am featuring two new cards released today from the new Chaos Legion set!

Both cards are from the Death Splinter and they really work well together.

Both cards are now part of the free base set of cards so everyone can use them. I liked these so much I bought a few! I have been needing to improve my death splinter collection for a while.

First we will take a look at the Summoner called Thaddius Brood!

I am really loving the artwork on all these new cards.

Rarity: Rare
Element: Death
Abilities: This summoner grants -1 magic and -1 health to all enemy monsters.

With these abilities I believe this summoner could be a great defense against the Water Summoner Alric Stormbringer. He would also be a perfect choice for the 'Melee Mayhem' + 'Up Close and Personal' rulesets.

I purchased 2 cards for $11 each as I believe the price will only go up 😁 I need to get another 3 so I can upgrade to Level 2!

Splinterlore

Messing with the dark arts should not be taken lightly. But that was the risk that Thaddius Brood took. A curious young man fascinated by the occult, he took to casting rituals and holding dark ceremonies. And it wasn't long before he got in touch with a dark entity that drove him into madness. His family sent him to an asylum, but it only worsened his condition. And the entity within him festered and grew more powerful. Soon there was no boundary between Thaddius and it. Using his newfound dark magic, Thaddius broke from his prison and now wreaks havoc everywhere he goes. Through his rituals he got into contact with Doctor Blight. And the Doctor was fascinated with his power. Thaddius has now joined the ranks of the Chaos Legion as an agent in the Splinterlands, sowing death wherever he can.

Now we will take a look at the Death Splinter Melee tank known as Cursed Windeku.

Rarity: Rare
Element: Death
Attack: Melee
Abilities: Thorns at level 1, Heal at level 5 and Slow at level 8.

This is a great monster with some impressive stats at level 1! With 2 hit points, 9 health and 3 speed he is a formidable opponent. Also it is quite a low mana level for stats like these. The best thing about this monster is of course the Thorns ability and if I can get him up to level 5 he will become unstoppable with the Heal ability.

When hit with a Melee attack, does damage back to the attacker.
Has an upper cap of 2

Restores a portion of the Monster's health each round Restores 1/3 of the max health, rounded down. Did you know: At lower levels, the Healing ability in the front position can go a long way.

Affliction ans Stun prevents a monster to self-healing

Reduces the Speed of all enemy Monsters

Did you know: Be careful not to use monster with this ability in the Reverse speed ruleset; to do so is to buff your enemy's team

Splinterlore

Cursed Windeku are nightmarish creatures that live in the deepest and darkest woods. They hunt at night, stalking their prey before attacking with their claws, while their thorn-like horns and natural healing ability provide an excellent defense,. They exude a pungent pheromone that reduces the reaction time of their victims, often allowing the Windeku to begin devouring them before they are dead. While these lifeless creatures may appear animalistic, they are highly intelligent. They have heeded the call put forth by the Lord of Darkness. Their thirst for blood is now focused on the Chaos Legion.

As you can see his stats improve greatly when upgraded. I bought 5 earlier for $8.50 ($1.75 each)

Battle Walkthrough

As the warriors enter the arena we get our first look at the enemy! I am quite confident of a win 😉

Round 1 ends with no fatalities as the tanks go head to head.

Round 2 is a repeat of the last round with no fatalities.

In round 3 we see more of the same.

Round 4 begins with our first death as my Dark Astronomer monster destroys the enemies tank monster called Shieldbearer pretty much ensuring victory as Cursed Windeku takes out the last enemy monster!
