Splinterlands Grind Play Experience: Entering Gold League
The end of season is approaching and with the new update to the rewards given in a specific league, players who are staying in the bronze league started to reach and play in the higher leagues.
In the last season, I ended up in the silver league specifically in Silver 2. This season, I’ve planned to reach Silver 1 and use all my ECR, grinding my rating up from bronze league to silver league because some of the players that I followed usually play until their ECR is mostly depleted and rest for a few days to recover, then play again. I wanted to do that also so I tried to grind my play yesterday.
Before I start, I looked up my past battles as well with the past battles of other top players in the leaderboard by using the Splintertools. The tool allows you to test your cards against teams you once fought. It provides the benefit of consistent, constant, and immediate feedback for players to make corrections, and move forward to their next battles leading to an immediate application of the battle knowledge.

After looking into my past battles, I went into the Flavius tool to know what lineup cards are best to use in a specific battle so that I can start renting those cards. You can check my previous blog post to know about the tool.

All things done and I started my grind play until my ECR reach an amount to stop and rest that lasted for about 7 hours in total gameplay. The first three hours of playing is quite smooth and I finally reach the silver league. For the next two hours, as I build my way up, much to my surprise, I got 15 times win streak, confidently reaching me into Silver 1 and earning me enough rating to enter the gold league.
I opened the first daily quest rewards, earning me a good number of cards. I also finished the second daily quest but I didn’t open it immediately because I’m thinking twice if I should enter in the gold league or stay in the silver league. Because my goal yesterday is to grind my way up to Silver 1 and coincidentally have the rating enough to enter the gold league, I decided to rent cards for appropriate power to enter and play in the gold league.

Playing in the gold league for the first time is different because I only rented cards for power and I immediately welcomed by the gold league players with 10 times lose streak. Quite a warm welcome to be given after entering. I continue playing for about two hours, sometimes winning but usually losing, and getting some few win streaks maintaining my position in the gold league reaching into Gold 2.

I enjoy playing in the higher league. I got to discover new combination plays that are well known to experienced players in the higher league but new to me. The one card I usually encountered is the Pelacor Conjurer. Definitely a worthy card to invest because it is useful in the higher leagues.
By the time I almost depleted my ECR, I opened the remaining daily quest reward that I completed when I was playing in the silver league earning me 5 reward cards and a few DEC on the side.
In the upcoming end of season, even If I’ve played in the gold league, I think I will stay in the silver league because as much as I would love to end in gold league, I don’t want to gamble my luck in renting cards for power to earn the end of season rewards for gold.
I wish I have known about the game years ago so that I can utilize the things that I’ve learned while the game is steadily progressing over time. Thanks to the Splinterlands community for being supportive to other players especially to the new ones by giving them advices and helping them promote the game.
