Hi! I'm EMD012 and here's my one of my battles showcasing the featured monster for this week, Animated Corpse.

INITIAL THOUGHTS

Animated Corpse is a 4-Mana Melee Monster from the Death Splinter. It gains the ability 'Void' at level 4.

For it's mana cost, Animated Corpse has great stats. At level 1, it has 2 Attack and 6 Health. This means, Animated Corpse is a good choice for a tank especially for the low-mana battles.

Void is a very good ability, especially in the current meta. You can pair him up with 'Silence' monsters such as Death Elemental and Phantom Soldier in the Death Splinter.

THE BATTLE

The battle that I will feature had the following ruleset:

League: Silver
Mana Cap: 17

Active Splinters: Fire, Death, Dragon

Equal Opportunity: All Monsters have the Opportunity ability.
Equalizer: The initial Health of all Monsters is equal to that of the Monster on either team with the highest base Health.

TEAM COMPOSITION

Zintar Mortalis
I expect my opponent will use Melee monsters in this battle especially because of the Equal Opportunity rule and Zintar Mortalis debuffs the opponent's Melee monsters by 1 attack.

Furious Chicken
Furious Chicken is our frontline in this battle. Hopefully, it gets damaged first so that the Opportunity monsters will attack it first.

Animated Corpse
Animated Corpse is our second monster. It can also attack because of the Opportunity.

Cursed Slimeball
Cursed Slimeball is a 1-Mana monster who can take advantage of the ruleset.

Undead Badger
Undead Bagder is another low mana monster who is great for the ruleset. Because of Sneak, it may target an important monster in the backline of my opponent's lineup.

Skeleton Assassin
Skeleton Assassin is another low mana monster with Sneak.

Venari Bonesmith
Venari Bonesmith is my very last monster. I like his Life Leech, which is a way to gain HP advantage in this match-up

Looking back, I feel like I could do better in terms of positioning in my team. For example, I should have not placed the Bonesmith in the last position because I want him to be attacked last but if a Sneak monster in the opponent's lineup attacks first, then the Bonesmith would be the target for the Opportunity Monsters.

BATTLE PROPER

Watch the battle here!

My opponent fielded in a Yodin team with a Melee line-up. I don't think that's the best idea, especially for this low mana battle. They probably over-valued the Blast ablity Yodin gives. For this ruleset, I think it would be best to fill up your board with monsters.

Here's a few highlights of the match.

02_compressed.jpg

My sneak monsters attack his backline first, which means the other opportunity monsters will follow that.

03_compressed.jpg

The Kobold Miner falls. Unfortunately my Animated Corpse would soon follow.

Serpentine Spy also falls.

05_compressed.jpg

The Furious Chicken follows.

Unfortunately, my 1 attack monsters do nothing to the Serpentine Soldier. Thankfully, the Venari Bonesmith slowly chips his health.

After a long match, Victory!

FINAL THOUGHTS

My positioning in this match could really do with some improvement. I should have placed the Animated Corpse in the 3rd position. In that position, it would have been shielded for a bit from the Blast damage. Given that it was my only 2 Melee damage monster, it could have sped up this match a bit.

I should also place the Venari Bonesmith in the 5th position, to shield it against the Sneaks, but I guess it would be vulnerable against Snipes either way.

The Animated Corpse wasn't used much in this battle but I'm definitely interested in its Void ability.

Nice. These low mana battles are the rare chances we get a chance to beat the likes of Yodin Zaku haha. Wish that would happen more often. Low mana battles were more frequent in the early days of Splinterlands.
