Hi! I'm EMD012 and here's my one of my battles showcasing the featured monster for this week, Defender of Truth.

INITIAL THOUGHTS

Defender of Truth is a 5-Mana Magic Monster from the Life Splinter with the ability 'Protect' at level 3.

Initially, I thought that Defender of Truth had 'Divine Shield' as his ability instead and my favorite summoner is Lorna Shine whose ability gives 'Divine Shield' to your monsters. Because of this I only rented a level 2 Defender of Truth since the Divine Shields won't stack. Only while writing this article did I realize my mistake and the +2 armor to every creature would have been a gamechanger in a lot of my matches. Oh well.

THE BATTLE

The battle that I will feature had the following ruleset:

League: Silver
Mana Cap: 25

Active Splinters: Fire, Earth, Life, Death, Dragon

Fog of War: Monsters lose the Sneak and Snipe abilities.
Heavy Hitters: All Monsters have the Knock Out ability.

TEAM COMPOSITION

Lorna Shine
Lorna Shine is my favorite Summoner. I usually pair her with Sneak Monsters but because of Fog of War, I needed to shake up my lineup.

Furious Chicken
Furious Chicken acts as a buffer against two instances of damage for this battle.

Pelacor Conjurer
Pelacor Conjurer acts as our main tank while our other Monsters deal damage.

Djinn Renova
Djinn Renova is our first attacker. She has the highest health so she is placed ahead of the others.

Defender of Truth
Defender of Truth is the second of our Magic attackers.

Temple Priest
Temple Priest is my last Magic attacker. I'm not sure why I placed him after Defender of Truth though. especially since he has higher HP.

Peacebringer
Peacebringer is my final Monster, I like how he deals 2 Ranged damage.

Looking back, my lineup is very vulnerable to a Mushroom Seer (Silence) + Unicorn Mustang (Void) team which is why its important to use the info shown on the pre-battle screen to see if your opponent uses these monsters before fielding a team like this.

My opponent also fielded in a Magic lineup with Chain Spinner in front and Temple Priest, Light Elemental and Lunakari Mistress being buffed by their Summoner, Delwyn Dragonscale. Unfortunately, Divine Shield eats up an instance of damage no matter the value.

Chain Spinner's Void Armor did delay a bit of my magic damage but after that it was a straightforward match. My Chicken and Conjurer were the only monsters my opponent managed to kill off. My opponent could have improved his line-up by placing the Lunakari Mistress after the Chain Spinner since she has the highest health and Fog of War is in play.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Defender of Truth wasn't really that big of a factor in this match. It was unfortunate that I mistakenly thought his ability was Divine Shield and not Protect. In the future, I might try him again and I'm thinking of pairing him with some Healers and an Armorsmith (Repair) to maximize his ability.
