First 100 Rift Gem Opening

I'll readily admit that I love opening packs. No, it's not the best option if you're in a budget for buying cards, but... it's fun opening packs still. 😁 My personal goal is to have a GF legendary someday, and maybe after that I'll quit SPL cold turkey... or who am I kidding, if I got a GF of a legendary I don't like, I'll probably move the goal posts and say my personal goal is to have a GF of a legendary I do actually like.

Anyway, here's some stats on the first 100 Rift Gems I opened. I didn't open them all at once... more like whenever the mood struck, I bought then opened. Please note that in all openings, I used enough legendary and alchemy potions.

EXPECTED PULLS

Using the drop rates from Splintercards as tabulated in the % columns below and applying these drop rates to 500 cards (100 Rift Gems x 5 cards per Rift Gem), would lead to the expected number of cards per rarity and foil in the # columns below:

Notes:

  1. The abovetabulated drop rates are for when you use both legendary and alchemy potions for every card pull. These drop rates would change if you don't use the potions.

  2. Using the abovetabulated drop rates, we can calculate that a GF legendary, on average, is pulled once in every 1,563 cards. That's about 313 Rift Gems!

ACTUAL PULLS

So did my first 100 Rift Gems followed the expected values?

I got 20 fewer RF commons than expected, which meant I got more RF rares, GF commons, and RF epics (which is good, since these are guaranteed to be summoners!). I also got one more GF rare than expected, although the unluckiest thing is that I got one less RF legendary—well, scratch that, the unluckiest thing is that I still didn't get a GF legendary. 😂

On a per-card basis, here's my haul:

Comments:

  1. As a Silver league player, I would've loved getting 3 copies of the Life legendary but Runemancer Atuat is just meh. Maybe if he costs less mana? Or if he has higher speed? Or if he has abilities better than Headwinds and Forcefield? That said, I sold all my Runemancer Atuat.

  2. GF Skargore and Coeurl Lurker were some of my later pulls, and they're really priced at the higher end of the market along with Runemancer Kye (which I got early). I sold GF Skargore to recover some funds, while Coeurl Lurker and Runemancer Kye will be among my staples. Coeurl Lurker has now become my go-to for when I'm going for a Life sustain build, so I'm happy not renting Shieldbearer anymore.

  3. Runemancer Florre is my own version of The One That Got Away (or, more accurately, The One I Did Not Get At All), so I bought it off. She really works well with both Obsidian and Fernheart.

  4. It's kinda sad that I got more Dallan and Aquatus than Ilthain and Fernheart. I sold all my Dallan, but maxed to Silver levels my Aquatus just because Kelya is too pricey. I've kind of been regretting that though because I feel like I'm losing with Aquatus whenever I face Kelya. I would've loved to max Ilthain to Silver levels but since my early pulls were Sthispa/Aquatus/ Dallan, I just never felt I would've been able to, especially with how expensive Ilthain is in the market.

  5. Of all the RW rares, Tinderlock was the first one I wanted to max to Silver levels. The Silence at level 4 is really handy, I thought. However, since I only pulled 7 of it and it's too pricey in the market, I'm still having second thoughts.
