Splinterlands AMA Summary & Thoughts - September 3rd, 2021 -

I'm a little late with this summary, but I wanted to take a little time to digest it, and think about the implications of what was announced:

Chaos Legion

• Pre-sale will start in the next 2 - 6 weeks
  • The pre-sale will bring a new/updated white paper, possibly outlining new mechanics, such as the land ones.
• SPS Staking
• They want this to be a high competition environment. The pre-sale vouchers will get, will depend on how much you have staked, vs the whole staking pool. However they made it sound like if you had staked a small amount from the beginning you would be able to get a pre sale voucher. I did read or hear somewhere that it was looking like it might be around $20 dollars worth of SPS as a ballpark figure, but this could change significantly depending on what the final staking pool looks like.
  • In addition to getting the pre-sale voucher you will need additional funds to buy the pack. They want the pack price to be affordable, and $2 as a price point is being discussed
• Chaos legion pre-sale packs will not be openable until the full release.
• Pre-sale will have extra kickstarter like benefits like exclusive promo cards and maybe even titles
• they may have bonus packs when buying 100+, or 500+. Like 10 extra packs for buying 100. Assuming you have that much SPS of course.
• They have mentioned accepting SPS as a currency to buy Chaos legion, as well as other forms of payment, to drive usage of the currency.
• Chaos Legion cards will probably have less DEC burn value than Untamed
• SPS is planned to be earnable in the ranked system
• new ranked format called the "modern" format. In this format you will only be able to primarily use Chaos legion cards. Older cards will be usable in a "classic" format.
• Modern & classic (or wild) formats will have separate ladders. Potentially two reward pools. one for wild and one for modern.

New Reward Cards
A couple of rewards cards were teased! Check them out below!

• A new 0 mana reward card was potentially mentioned. Likely an Epic.

Other Notes

• Season reward format - may change this season. be on standby. It was previously discussed that the rewards would change to what division you end the season in, NOT what your highest achievement is. It was supposed to go live this season but has not yet. If it does go live this season, then they will do it 3-4 days before the season ends

• Tournaments - There are plans to try and reduce the number of high level accounts farming bronze/low level tournaments.

• Land - Land will allow you to generate a card pack. There will be a formula that allows you to create an item, but the resulted item or pack will be random.

• Priorities - Reward Cards, Chaos Legion, then SPS "stuff" (including SPS as rewards), and then Land stuff.

• Rewards vs increased player base - With a limited reward pool, rewards may drop, in both DEC & SPS format. However IN THEORY, as rewards drop, due to an increased player base, more people will be holding/demanding these tokens, and as such, value should increase, meaning the USD reward should be approx the same, but this is SPECULATION. Markets may react differently

• New Player onboarding Role- SPS goes into a role fund and the community that is staking SPS could go and vote, so whomever is in the high position in the roll, gets paid the SPS. So it's kind of a way to pay and incentivize people in the new player helper role to do their best and get paid SPS - hoping to be released in september.
