As a newbie on hive there are certain things you have to do in order to effectively encourage the Blockchain. One thing about hive is the more time you spend on hive the more you earn from hive and the spending of time is definitely the way you engage the system.
One of the most important things here on hive is curation. It is a sad thing to put in your energy in writing a post and end up not getting an upvote. but there are certain things to consider when writing a post in order to gain support, and visibility.

Quality of post

This may look a little harder for the newbies trust me the beginning of everything is always hard but the more your time to keep doing a particular thing you become useful to it and you'll be diligent at what you're doing. if you are consistent in it within a short period of time you will be good at it. I've been here and I've discovered that for a post to gain upvote the post must meets certain criteria and one is the quality of the post.
Spending time in writing a quality post is one of the ways to effectively engage hive. Do your research well, check the spellings of words and do a back to back reading before publishing.

Supporting others

The best way to build a relationship here in hive is by engaging other people's post and by doing so you are also promoting yourself because once you keep engaging on people's posts they will get familiar with you and they will always come around your block to also support you. There is no better way to get people to support you if you don't also support them. Build relationships and gain visibility here in hive by effectively engaging other people's posts, follow them, reblog, vote and make comments and suggestions on their posts. Aside from making comments, voting and blocking other people's posts you can also engage hive in each community discord. Most of the communities here on earth have their own discord. You will get to talk with the big whales and earn their support. Another wonderful place to engage is the Leo thread trust me this is a good place to effectively engage and the reward will be visible.

Join a community contest.

This is one of the best way as a newbie to kick-starting sometimes you might find it difficult to put up a post you may be lacking the inspiration on what to write on and how to write it but there are certain communities on hive that creates an opportunity for its members by suggesting a topic for them to write on some of these communities do the contest weekly some monthly you can join the contest it's a best way to engage on hive, in some communities they are price reward for the best performance of the week so we can end reward as one of the best performer and can also earn reward in your post. When joining a contest read the rules, follow them, know the right tags to use for each post and the community the best fit in, there are different communities in hive with specifications know where to make a post not all community accept any post while some does.

Be consistent

In everything we do and we design our growth and success then there is a need for consistency and dedication in hive blockchain, everything you do here in this platform count be it commenting, making of post, curating other, playing of games, making investment everything has a way of coming back to you so whatever you put in that's what you get here. There are no two ways about it if you want to grow in a hive then you have to be consistent in what you're doing. You can't stop engaging for like a month and come back to make a post and expect good support, things are not done that way, some curators don't even vote a post because it is worth voting, but some vote the consistency the person has been putting in to engage the platform.
