On the Way to the Wedding by Julia Quinn
I can’t believe i’ve officially finished the bridgerton series! on the way to the wedding was such a bittersweet read for me. i had been putting it off because i didn’t want the series to end, but i was also curious to see how gregory’s story would play out. unfortunately, it just didn’t land the way i hoped. the tropes in this one weren’t my thing, and the romance felt more awkward than swoony. gregory "falling in love" from just from seeing a woman’s neck TWICE had me rolling my eyes a bit.
that said, i did enjoy some parts, especially seeing the whole bridgerton family involved and how their happily-ever-afters shaped gregory’s ideas about love. the plot could be really fun and entertaining at times and that gave the story a different vibe than the others. but overall, the relationship just didn’t feel romantic or convincing to me. so much time was wasted at the beginning of the book, and i felt bad for the heroine with how everything played out. the ending leaned a little too much into soap-opera for my taste. not the strongest note to end on, but i’m still glad i read it. now i’m just excited to see how the tv adaptation will handle it all!
