Splinterlands: Bronze III Blues , 30 days of playing

avatar

After playing Splinterlands for 30 days now. Below is a summary of my stats.

Funds invested : 500 USD
Owned cards : 54
SPS staking : 180 SPS
Collection Power : 6340
Cards rented out : 28
Chaos packs: 13
Daily SPS airdrop : 2.3 SPS
League: Novice-Bronze III

Yes, you read it right . I am stuck in Bronze III and I have 6,340 collection power. I have been losing almost 99% of the battles, which is confusing me very much . I decided to focus on two splinters (Water and Fire) . I own a nice deck of water cards and rented “Lir Deepswimmer” . This is one of the best Summoners in the water deck I believe.

It seems to be bots playing heavily in the Bronze league. If that is the case, this can be very discouraging to new players. I have seen where I battled the same person/bot back to back or battled players with similar names.

I normally pick a good summoner. On the front line, I try to add a monster with good health and ability. My back row I’ll do a mixture of melee and magic monsters. No matter what combination I select, my opponents have been murdering my team on the battle field. I think it may be time to watch some of my old battles or watch some of the top guys in the league. I am clearly doing something wrong with my strategy.

The Battle god’s must have been reading this post as I typed it. I decided to take a short break from writing this up to play a quick battle. I thought I was going to get slaughtered and ended up on the winning side. You can check it out here

In summary, I think you have to really love Splinterlands to keep playing the game and invest some money to get on top. I wonder what will be the incentive after the SPS airdrop ends. Right now being stuck in Bronze III sucks, I am mostly earning by renting cards and the SPS airdrop. If I decide to rent cards to level up faster, then the income from my rentals is being used for the cards I rent. So, if my daily rental income is 39 DEC and I rent a good summoner like Lir Deepswimmer which costs 17 DEC, this drops my income to 22 DEC and at the rate of DEC value dropping which is $0.00897648 -13.6% . My daily ROI is 0.19 USD . Don't get me wrong, this rate is more than what a centralized bank will give me for holding 1,000 USD in my account. The bank will probably give me about 0.01 for the entire month. I’ll probably focus the rest of this month auditing my deck and researching other players. I’m sure I’ll need to invest more funds into the game to make it to Silver.

One last thing I want to mention is the season ending rewards chest. OMG , can I get more cards instead of 3 credits and some potions . What can I even buy with 3 credits?

Peakmosters tells that your cards are ~500$ bucks right? But you also own some booster packs, so how much did you really spend?

I really need to sit back and add everything up. I may be closer to $1,000 if I include the packs, potions and the funds I spent on renting cards. My return is way below the money I invested last month. Peakmonsters shows my cards are valued around $512. 86

Will you #hodl or sell or open your CL Packs?

I would not recommend you to rant out expensive summoners like that. I don't even do that, and I don't intent to.

Did you have guidelines for building your deck?

I plan on #HODL the CL packs for at least 3-6 months . The price has been dropping a lot. Are you using the low end summoners ? which league are you getting to with those? The idea I had with building out the deck was focus on two splinters. I focused on the Fire and Water. Then I researched some summoners . I selected the monsters based on their attack (Melee, Magic or Range) . I'm finding out that I need monsters with more health and faster speed. I get killed in battle if someone select all Magic monsters.

Summoners are so expensive, it's really brutal. But you need to level them up. The summoner level is the deal-breaker. I basically only use common summoner up to level 5 and I finish the seasons in Diamond league usually.

I will try leveling the summoner up. I appreciate your suggestion.

Especially a level 3 Dragon one, that lets you play some very effective cheap monsters.

To beat magic, you might want to go for Heal+Void or Double Front Line Reflect. If you know that your enemy is probably pulling glass cannon Water Magic.

In my opinion, Water is the most interesting Splinter of them all. It's offensive, has lots of damage, and snipe/sneak but is also low in HP. You win or lose by setup and not by luck or balance.
