Greetings to all my fellow players around the world and to Splinterlands. How are you all doing Splinters? Hope you are all doing great.

Five years had quickly flies and here I am still playing Splinterlands. Looking back, NFT was hyped at that time, Splinterlands is the fruit of my searching in google. Axie Infinity was the most famous back in the day but I don't have the funds to join it. Luckily Splinterlands offers the game with just 10USD. I started with knowing nothing about the game. I just jumped in to the battle and just pick the cards that are playable in my deck. That is without owning or renting any cards, just the free cards that Splinterlands provided at that time😂. You can imagine how hard and frustrating it is. As days goes by, my experienced from battling everyday helps me grow in the game. And the information online also provided some of the knowledge about the game. But the most helpful one comes from the people that I met through Splinterlands.

⚔️Joining Guild

Social media is the best way to find people with similar interest. By joining facebook group and group chat I found people that helps me progress in Splinterlands. Then later on they invited me to join thier guild. My very first guild was Chill and Play. This is where I grow as a player. The guild leader and members had so much knowledge about the game. I didn't know that there was brawls, I was overwhelmed and surprised that there were actually Gladius Cards. I ask them what kind of cards are those because it has a different design compare to the usual cards that we use in regular battle. From then on, Splinterlands becomes more exciting for me. We even play brawl at the last minute to surprise the other guild and sometimes our guild leader delegate some cards for us to have the edge in battle. I think being a member of the guild was the most enjoyable moment of my Splinterlands. The exchanging of ideas on what are the best combos, how to counter the enemy and the idea of owning or renting the best cards available at that time. And of course boasting the rewards we got🙂! Then came along the Chaos Legion, the famous Venari Wavesmith and Djinn Oshannus, those are the money at that time. There were many influencer as well streaming on facebook at the time, I enjoyed watching and hoping to get some give aways😀. Those are the moments that shaped me as a player today. So if you don't have a guild yet, I suggest you join in one. They will really help you progress in the game.

Buying and Renting Cards

A lot has change in Splinterlands, the one that really taken a toll on me was the removal of the league tier. If you are an old player you know this already, but if you are new then let me explain it brielfly. The league still exist today but they are limitless when it comes to level of the cards that we use in battle. Just to give you an example if I am playing bronze league, then the level of cards that I can use is just the follwing:
Common Archons level 3 can only summon:

  • Common Unit Level 3
  • Rare Unit Level 2
  • Epic Unit Level 2
  • Legendary Level 1

This league are determined by rating same as today, but the level is capped according to the league and I can only use the next level of cards if I will advance to the next league if my rating reach the silver.

But change is inevitable, for the game to grow there are difficult disicion that has to be made. In order for me to adapt in the ever changing and fast pace game of Splinterlands, I needed to device a strategy that can help me stay in the game. And that is by owning and renting the cards. Well, if you ask me i would rather own the card than to rent them if I can afford it. Because the card will eventually pay for itself if you are like me who are constantly playing rank game. And especially today, just like what I mentioned above that we can use any level of cards in any league we are in. Since I can't afford to buy all the cards yet, I am renting some of the legendary that can boost my performance. Let me give you and example of how I do it. Currently I owned some max level Rebellion Rewards Card and Mid-Level Conclave Rewards Card, for me to summon them at the highest level I need a max level Archon, which I don't have. So my strategy is to rent an Archon that can summon them all, or some of them. And what would be the best Archon that can summon them than the Dragon. Of course it will not be always available in every battle but whenever Dragon Element appears, then I can use it to summon my high level cards from the other element that I will choose.

In the photo above, the cards that I encirled are my owned cards, while the Archon and the Tank were rented. If I didn't rent the max level Archon then I wouldn't be able to use my owned cards at max level. And I would not certainly be able to compete with my enemy with a high level team as well. But of course renting high level Archons and Units comes with a price, it just depends on how courageous a player to gamble with it. Me, I am willing to go for it at a cost until I owned that card later on.

I hope you learn something from my experience in Splinterlands. What about you? Maybe its about time to share your moments that made you a better Splinterlands player.

That would be all for now, thanks for reading, I will see you in next challenge. If you came across with this post and you are not yet playing Splinterlands you can use my link and reach out to me so I can guide you to the best web3 gaming, Splinterlands😎.
