Whats big difference on Splinterlands after a year of not playing?

Hi everyone, my name is Farhunt. I’ve been playing and write about Splinterlands last year. I’m a big fan of card game since a long time and a NFT’s geek, so Splinterlands is a perfect platform for me to reminisce my childhood memory.

Furthermore, I stop write article about Splinterland because at that time I got overwhelmed with my university thing and I just don’t find any reason that strong enough to make me do it again until now.

Then what makes me start to write again? It’s simply because I miss the old version of me who enjoy playing games so much and doesn’t care about does it make me some money or not and now I got more time to enjoy the game.

So what's the difference on Splinterlands now vs a year ago? Let’s find out below!

1. COMMUNITY

To be honest, I’m kind of pessimist about the sustainability of NFT game like Splinterlands. The reason behind that could come from the Coin they use in the game, it could be from the community and also because of the game mechanic. I didn’t realize the impact that comes from the weekly challenge like Social Media Challenge and Share Your Battle Challenge to the sustainability of the WEB 3.0 platform like HiveBlog, Splintertalk and PeakD.

I see so many new faces around the community sharing about Splinterlands, Crypto in general and also many more interesting topic. This fact is shocking me, and I’m glad this happens. I can say that Splinterlands community is the healtiest community so far based on my experience playing and be a part of NFT game community. I wish the community and the game itself does not stop growing, and good thing keep happening.

2. CARD

This is the most obvious one, I start to see so many new cards from a different collection and more combination of deck also coming alongside with it. The number of cards in the game can be a good reason the game is still fun because we can use our creativity to create more strategy that unique. We also have few new edition cards that I have never seen before a year ago like Dice, Gladius and Riftwatchers.

Sadly, I don’t see any new element in the game. I could suggest element like Lightning and Metal, or we could see a combination of two element become new element. Since I’m a big fan of Death Element, I would like to try some of new card like Kain Hace, Raa, and Xulax Nightwind because those card look cool.

3. PRICE

Token

Splinterlands use three currencies inside the game which are SPS, DEC and Credit. It's been always a problem and a challenge for an NFT game to maintain their native token price after a massive bull at early stage of the game. Besides from the game and the tokenomics the game have, we have to consider that crypto, specially bitcoin will have a huge impact on everything below it.

We can see here the chart of SPS and DEC

SPS

Since first of January, SPS have been drop 83.10% from $0.2256 to $0.03811.

DEC

Since first of January, SPS have been drop 89.27% from $ 0.004754 to $ 0.00051

Card

My thoughts are that the price of every card will go down by the time. So I checked the stats on Splintercard. Splintercard is the site I used to use in order to check is my investment worth it or not.

Let’s look at Zalran Efreet statistics here :

image.png

The price went down over the last six months from around $24 to now around $9 on low card for regular foil. Almost the same thing happen with the gold foil and any other card.

I don’t quite remember about the renting prices since I got no history of my rent from last year, so I would assume it about the same price as before.

So overall all the price are going down, and it makes sense because there is a new card being trade and also the crypto market in general are not in a good condition now.

4. GAMEPLAY

First thing I noticed is that there are a few new summoners like Thaddius Brood, Dallan, Aquatus, Tarsa, Conqueror Jacek, Skargore and many more. I like Thaddius Brood since I play death element a lot.

Probably I’m not capable of judging how much the gameplay chance after a year because I never play in a big league before. I play few matches yesterday, and surprisingly I still managed to win even though I don’t even remember the card and the skill that the card has. I only use basic strategy that I used to use before where I pick one tank card like bone golem or Haunted Spirit and pick a card that can do range damage for the rest

I can say that there is no significant change in the game, probably there is a lot of new strategy that we can implement into the game with combination of good card out there.

Thanks for reading this! Please let me know if there is something wrong with my post, ciaw!
