Social Media Challenge - I Bought 60 BCX Sand Worm to make it Lv.5 (Tips on how to buy cheap cards)

Introduction

Hello Everyone.

In this post, I would like to share to you about how I bought 60 BCX Sand Worm cards and combined them in order to be Lv.5 monster. I will include tips and strategy on how to get the cheap card without waiting. First of all, we need to understand, what is BCX.

In Splinterlands, cards are “leveled up” in only one way: by combining multiple cards into a higher level card. Cards have a Base Card eXperience, or BCX, which represents how many cards have been combined into that one card. As an example, we need 60 BCX or 60 Lv1 cards in order to get 1 Lv5 card. pretty easy to understand right?

Combining cannot be undone, and as cards are leveled up, the total supply of that card is always reduced. So, if you are buying cards edition prior to Chaos Legion which are not being printed anymore, the total supply of the cards are always decreasing since players will combine the cards to get a stronger card. As time goes by, less supply and more demand will increase the price and value of the cards.

Do you know alpha edition card? Its total supply is very limited but the demand is very high since it has very high Collection Power (CP) to rise to higher league and get more and better reward. Another usage of alpha card is giving % of DEC bonus whenever player wins the ranked battle.
This is the comparison between regular foil common of alpha card and chaos legion edition card (the current edition) in the market (sorted from the cheapest, on Feb 23th, 2022) :

As we can see, Alpha card is much more expensive than chaos because of supply and demand reason, but don't get me wrong I am not underestimate chaos legion card. some CL cards are very strong, for example Time mage, Celestial Harpy, Time Mage, Xenith Monk, etc so I also collected the intermediate level (Lv.4) of those cards because they will help us a lot in the battle.

Why is build up deck important?

In my opinion, Building deck is very essential in Splinterlands because "Cards" is the main asset in the game. In the beginning you might want to buy some cards which you think the strongest team or maybe everyone said as meta, and then as time goes by, you earned DEC from ranked battle, tournament, Leaderboard, trading cards, etc. You can use those DEC to buy more cards to strengthen your deck because only this way, you can play in higher league and earn more reward. Think about the future because we are just started, lots of potential from the game which are not revealed yet.

How to buy cheap cards?

First of all, you need to go to https://monstermarket.io/. Put your username and login.

Type in the monster you would like to buy. You can filter the choice by selecting the box in several parameters.

As you can see here, I typed "Sand" and there appears 2 kind of cards, the first one is the regular foil card and the next one is the gold foil card. Gold foil is always more expensive since it will give you additional bonus whenever you win the ranked battle. I just feel enough with the regular foil so I clicked on that card.

Then, you will be directed into the window where you can see lots of card are being listed along with the price, BCX, and level. You need to make sure that the arrow at Price/BCX is going Up. It means that the cards listed are started from the cheapest price/BCX until the most expensive price/BCX. If you want Lv.5 card which is required 60 BCX cards, you need to select all the cards until the total BCX is 60.

In this example i just bought 59 BCX since I have 1 BCX Sand Worm already. If you buy the card in https://monstermarket.io/ you will get cashback in the form of DEC. As we can see in the picture below, I bought 59 BCX cards of Sand Worm and get cashback around 874.964 DEC. Once you are ready, you can click the blue button (payment using DEC).

You can go to https://splinterlands.com/ in the card section and select "owned", then all the 59 BCX cards will be shown there. You might want to combine all of them in order to get Lv5 Sand Worm. In below picture i combined the 59 BCX first and then send it to my main account in order to obtain Lv5 Sand Worm.

Here is my Lv.5 Sand Worm. The reason why I really need this card is because I really like sneak ability since it attacks the weak point of enemies. mostly, player tends to hide their ultimate attack like Deeplurker or Queen Mycelia in the last position so when you are successfully kill them then, BOOM.... the win is yours.
