5 Things Non-Gamers Can Do With Splinterlands

@Splinterlands' success story is not hidden from those who are quite active in the P2E Blockchain gaming space. On 1st August, the total no. of spellbook purchases broke the record of the no. of purchases in the whole of June. That's a huge achievement for players, investors, game developers, and the whole HIVE community.

image.png

Just look at the number of sign-ups - a huge spike of over 10 times in the last one month. That's crazy! Each signup/spellbook purchase comes with a paid HIVE account created on the spot. Because you need a HIVE account to play the game. DUH!

Growth is explosive and it just doesn't seem to stop. Everyone wants a piece of it - investors & gamers both. So as a non-gamer, you might be thinking about what to do with your money because obviously, you don't want to play. Maybe you have better things to do, maybe you want to play casually and still make shitloads of money. There are so many things within the game that you can do to notch up your investment.

Gamers gonna game! It's tough to beat people who have been playing this game for a long time for two reasons:

  • They have better cards
  • They have more experience than you

Hence, they have better odds of winning this game. So what can you do? I made a list of 5 things you can do to make money from Splinterlands without (seriously) playing the game yourself:

  1. Invest In Cards: Investing in cards which are alpha/rewards, rare or legendary, or maybe GOLD. Basically, you want to hit those which are rare and low on supply. They will be expensive but you can choose from different options. Once you own, let's say 3-5 of them, you are all set to see their price rising as the game gets popular because the demand for those cards will increase. After 6 or maybe 12 months, you can sell them at a much higher price. Moreover, if you choose to play, some of these cards increase the capture rate of DEC with each battle, especially GOLD cards.
  2. Rent Cards: Renting your digital assets is the best way to earn passive income in DEC (Dark Energy Crystals). Luckily you can rent out these cards on the market. You can rent them for as high as you want, depending upon the demand. During the season end, these rents go up high so it's better to relist them with a price bump. If you have a good set of 5-10 cards, you can earn a decent part-time or maybe full-time income throughout the year.
  3. Buy & Hold DEC: You can buy DEC and simply hold it in your in-game wallet. Don't forget that DEC price will appreciate if more people buy and use it to invest in the game. Also, holding DEC will give you SPS (Splinterlands Shards) which is going to be the governance token of the game. Free money! It's going to be a year-long airdrop and we have barely touched the 40th Day. More than 10 months of airdrop is still left.
  4. SPS Staking: SPS can be staked too within the in-game wallet and currently you can earn up to 136% APR at the time of writing this post. Claim your SPS daily and Stake them as well to get compound interest on your investment. Hopefully, SPS will have many more use cases in the future.
  5. Learn Gaming: Now that you know the various ways to earn from Splinterlands, it's time to get serious about playing the game if you think that's a good idea for you. Doing daily battles even if you lose them, will make you learn more about the game. With a good set of cards, you can earn a little more DEC that will in turn give you more SPS. It's not that hard, you just need to be smart to dig a little deep into the game. If you want to know more about Splinterlands and DEC, then checkout this basic guide by @crypto-guides.

As a newbie investor to Splinterlands, I hope this list made sense to you. It's not too late to invest in it. The developers of the game are coming up with major updates in the upcoming months. So this is the best time to get on it. Please let me know if you know any other tips or hacks that everyone else can use to get the best out of the game. Comment below!

And there is so much anyone can do around that. Just thinking of SPT and blogging about Splinterlands that will earn you, in the end, SPS is another thing non-gamers can do. Trading is another option as someone could buy low offered cards on the market and sell them afterward for a bigger price. That is another way to get some juice after this great game. And let's not forget the collectible NFTs launched these days together with the new UX on Splintertalk.io which could represent a good investment for the future. And probably there are more sources that non-gamers could passively benefit from...

Totally forgot about that while writing a Splinterlands blog. Lol, the irony. SPT gives another boost to your SPS airdrop. Even non-gamers can write about the game as I did with this one.

Splinterlands is definitely a land of unlimited opportunities. I am blown away by its huge success and the return it is giving currently. And the best part is that we are just getting started. I am sure my investments will pay off very well in the future. Passive income baby! 🤑🤑🚀

So funny how a game like that becomes an investment choice and even delivers multiple choices for doing so.

Haha. So true @flauwy. Never in my life I imagined to invest so much time and money in a game. And I am still not able to digest the fact that I am getting real money for having fun. Can do this all day mate. :))

Buy & Hold DEC bro. And get SPS Daily for free. Stake it bit by bit. After one year you have lots of DEC and SPS both with appreciated prices. 😁🚀

Yes. I keep all of my DEC on Splinterlands. Might need them to buy some cool cards. 😁

You get SPS for holding SPT tokens as well which you can get by blogging with #splinterlands tag or using splintertalk.io

I have been thinking about creating a ton of content on Splinterlands in the upcoming weeks. Gotta maximize the damn Airdrop.

They should just do some battles even if they lose. Your energy capture rate might go down a bit but letting it overfill is a waste. Though that is definitely an issue for me lately.

Yes J. It keeps you going and you win sometimes without even doing much effort. You are not wasting your energy that much by using it. Luck factor matters early in the game because there is a good chance that your opponent is as clueless as you. Probably worse. So there you can pick wins and understand why you won by looking at the battle. I do this a lot.

Now I play casually without any expectations and earn a little bit of DEC once in a while. I mostly buy it from the market directly and hold to get more SPS.

Thanks much for the guide it's quite obvious, the chance of winning as a beginner is very low with time they can catch up.

That's true. You can win so much at the starting unless you have shitloads of money or insane gaming skills. I have none. Most people struggle with either of these two. I would suggest focusing on the AIRDROP for probably 3-4 months and make money with that. Then you can use it to reinvest in the game by buying cards or other in-game assets.

In the meanwhile, play casually and learn how all of it works.

Just discovered I had $65 worth of cards I had bought in the early days for a few Hive. I will try to rent them out as my real-world life does not give me the time to play games.

Awesome. Just rent them out and see your DEC count growing bit by bit. ✌

Leo has thought me well. You really never know which part of the Hive ecosystem will take off. So, it is a good idea to dip your toe in all of it.

Haha. Not all of it. Maybe 3-4 good projects you really like and go long-term with them. And put small money here and there for the experiment but the majority of it should go into a few special ones. How do you manage your investments?

If you put your dec/sps into the diesel pool on the tribaldex.com you get bonus sps in the airdrop.

Thank you so much @antisocialist. This tip is freaking gold. Would you suggest to me some DEC pools that are cool to invest in?

Tribaldex.com has several dec, sps, and bee pools.
Bee is the token of the tribaldex.
Cubdefi.com has a dec pool, too, but you need a bsc wallet to use it.
