Splinterlands Did A Waka Flocka

The no. 1 P2E game on the planet has done something that no other game has done before. Splinterlands is launching a special edition NFT card called Waka Spiritblade in association with Waka Flocka Flame & LOAK. The sale will happen at 12pm EST on Thursday, February 24th, 2022 via Splinterlands store.

Who Is Waka Flocka Flame?

Waka Flocka Flame is a 35-year-old American Rap artist. Haven't heard of him before and I think some of his fans would be hearing about Splinterlands for the first time. If you check his Twitter then you will get to know that he is very enthusiastic about NFTs. Great thing is that he already understands how this space works and I am sure many of fans have adopted this new tech because of him. Just to give you an idea about how famous he is - Facebook - 9.7m Followers, Instagram - 3.5m Followers, and Twitter - 1.8m Followers. He is quite a biggie, no joke. 😋

LOAK

LOAK is a digital merchandise company that creates wearable art and NFTs in the Metaverse or AR Platforms. They often do tie-ups with famous artists and Waka Flocka Flame is one of them. This helps artists to provide digital merchandise to their fans and create a new income stream for themselves. As we all know, AR and VR are the technologies that will be used everywhere in the future, it's great to see the space is getting filled with new ideas and startups.

Use Case & Price Of Waka Spiritblade

Waka Spiritblade is a special edition NFT which is a promo death summoner at maxed out level. Only 1000 copies are available which makes it rare piece. It will come gold and silver foils that will have two use cases:

1. You can play the card in Splinterlands
2. You can also wear the NFT while using Snapchat AR Module

It can be bought with both SPS and Vouchers. Voucher Tokens are distributed to everyone who stakes their SPS in the game. Alternatively, you can buy them from Hive-Engine market.

5000 SPS ($0.15 each) & 500 VOUCHER ($2.19 each) tokens is the price of each card. At current prices, it comes out to be ~ $1800. We all know that there's a good possibility that price of SPS and VOUCHER tokens will increase as the Sale day approaches which will make this costlier. Everyone would want to stack more SPS before that happens. NFT market has seen some insane growth in 2021 and it is expected to continue even in 2022. We can also expect this special Edition NFT to be perform great on the secondary markets because the hype is real.

Splinterlands Marketing Strategy

Influencer marketing is one of the best strategies to follow in the age of social media. Fans listen to their favorite artists and trust them. I am not sure what's going to be the result of this collaboration but it's exciting to witness the step taken by Splinterlands (@aggroed & @yabapmatt) in the right direction. We might have to chase a few internet celebrities and I am sure soon, they will be chasing us.

All P2E games and DApps on Hive can learn so much from Splinterlands. Partnerships like these would be beneficial for everyone involved:

1. For the artist, it's an opportunity to grow their brands in the Metaverse.
2. For the game, it's an opportunity to get more eyeballs and of course revenue.

If others can adopt this marketing strategy and have tie-ups with big brands & artists out there, then we can collectively create a huge network of people wanting to join Hive and its native DApps. Could use some more celebrity partnerships. 😉😉
