Splinterlands - Victory against an overpowered opponent [ENG/DE]

Hello Splinterlandians,

have you ever started a battle, looked at the rulesets, mana cap and available splinters, put together your team to the best of your knowledge and belief, and when you see the opposing team, you think you can skip the battle because the opposing monsters are much higher level than yours? This happens to me a lot in the Modern format at the moment. I myself only have rare Summoners at a maximum level of 4 and am tied to these card levels. However, opponents in the Modern format, even in the Silver League, often have Summoners and monsters with maximum card levels. I usually lose these battles, but sometimes you can really annoy the big players.

That's why I want to show you one of these battles today. I defeated an overpowered opponent in the Modern Ranked format and I'd like to show you how the battle went. Have fun reading!

But now to the battle. In the middle left you can see the ruleset, mana cap and the available Splinters. However, as these are not too exciting or unusual, I'll skip going into them in more detail. Personally, I like to play the water Splinter and chose a common combination of Deeplurker and Kulu Mastermind. Around the last one, of course, I played monsters that have no attack to benefit from "Weapons Training". So I was quite optimistic when putting my team together.

However, the first time I saw the opposing team, I mentally wrote off the battle. A Quix the Devious at maximum level and the rest of the cards are very strong in the current meta and almost or at maximum level. I watched the battle anyway and became more and more optimistic, but see for yourself.

After the first round, thanks to my two monsters with the "Opportunity" ability, I had already defeated two of my opponent's glass cannons: Scavo Technomancer and Riverboat Captain. My team, on the other hand, was still doing very well. The enemy attacks were largely distributed among my team, so I didn't suffer any losses yet. However, I had to hope for a bit of luck on my side or bad luck from the opponent in the coming rounds, as the opponent's Chaos Dragon with the combination of "Scattershot" and "Blast" can cause me a lot of losses, especially in the back row, if it hits perfectly.

In the second round, I was able to eliminate another of my opponent's monsters, namely Merdaali Guardian. My team still had no losses, but I had already lost some lifepoints and my main tank Djinn Oshannus was poisoned by the opponent. Meanwhile, the opponent's Doctor Blight was gaining more and more lifepoints through the "Scavenger" ability, so it remained exciting.

After round three and round four, the battlefield was already pretty thinned out. I myself lost both my tanks with Djinn Oshannus and Baakjira. The poisoning from Doctor Blight played a big part in that. But my opponent's line-up was also pretty decimated. There was only one monster left to defeat and that was the opponent's Doctor Blight with a huge amount of life points.

In the end, I was able to defeat my opponent's Doctor Blight with a few losses and win the battle, despite the high level difference. GG to my opponent @lokij.

After such a victory, the joy is of course greater than when you win against opponents of the same level. And it's precisely because of battles like this that I think Splinterlands is such a great game. It is simply very important which tactics you choose, especially in connection with the circumstances of the battle, such as the different rulesets. And then you can also win against opponents whose monsters have a higher level.

kennt ihr das, wenn ihr in ein Battle startet, die Rulesets, das Manacap und die verfügbaren Splinter seht, euer Team nach bestem Wissen und Gewissen zusammenstellt und ihr beim Anblick des gegnerischen Teams denkt, dass ihr das Battle direkt überspringen könnt, da die gegnerischen Monster ein viel höheres Level haben als eure? Aktuell passiert mir das sehr häufig im Modern Format. Ich selbst habe nur Rare Summoner auf maximal Level 4 und bin an diese Kartenlevel gebunden. Oft aber haben Gegner im Modern Format, selbst schon in der Silver League, Summoner und Monster mit maximalen Kartenlevel. Meistens verliere ich dann diese Battles, aber manchmal kann man die Großen auch sehr gut ärgern.

Deswegen möchte ich euch heute eines dieser Battles zeigen. Ich habe im Modern Ranked Format einen übermächtigen Gegner besiegt und ich möchte euch den Verlauf des Battles vorstellen. Viel Spaß beim Lesen!

Nun aber zum Battle. Links mittig könnt ihr das Ruleset, Manacap und die verfügbaren Splinter sehen. Da diese aber nicht allzu spannend oder ungewöhnlich sind, überspringe ich mal näher darauf einzugehen. Ich persönlich spiele gerne das Wasser Splinter und wählte hierbei eine gängige Kombination aus Deeplurker und Kulu Mastermind. Um den letzteren herum habe ich natürlich Monster gespielt, die keinen Angriff besitzen, um vom „Weapons Training“ zu profitieren. Beim Zusammenstellen meines Teams war ich also recht optimistisch.

Beim ersten Anblick des gegnerischen Teams habe ich das Battle dann aber mental schon abgeschrieben. Ein Quix the Devious auf Maximallevel und auch die restlichen Karten sind sehr starke in der aktuellen Meta und beinahe bzw. auf dem Maximallevel. Ich habe das Battle trotzdem angesehen und wurde immer optimistischer, aber seht selbst.

Nach der ersten Runde hatte ich dank meiner beiden Monster mit der Fähigkeit „Opportunity“ schon zwei der gegnerischen Glaskanonen besiegt: Scavo Technomancer und Riverboat Captain. Meinem Team hingegen ging es noch sehr gut. Die gegnerischen Angriffe wurden weitestgehend auf mein Team verteilt, sodass ich noch keine Verluste zu beklagen hatte. Allerdings musste ich in den kommenden Runden auf etwas Glück auf meiner Seite bzw. Pech des Gegners hoffen, da mir der gegnerische Chaos Dragon mit der Kombination von „Scattershot“ und „Blast“ bei einem optimalen Treffer ordentlich Verluste, vor allem in der hinteren Reihe, hinzufügen kann.

In der zweiten Runde konnte ich ein weiteres Monster meines Gegner ausschalten, nämlich Merdaali Guardian. Mein Team hatte immer noch keine Verluste zu verzeichnen, allerdings habe ich bereits einige Lifepoints verlieren müssen und mein Main Tank Djinn Oshannus wurde durch den Gegner vergiftet. Währenddessen erhielt der gegnerische Doctor Blight immer mehr Lifepoints durch die Fähigkeit „Scavenger“, es bleibt also spannend.

Nach Runde drei und Runde vier war das Kampffeld bereits ziemlich ausgedünnt. Ich selbst habe mit Djinn Oshannus und Baakjira meine beiden Tanks verloren. Die Vergiftungen durch Doctor Blight hatten einen großen Anteil daran. Aber auch die Aufstellung meines Gegners war ziemlich dezimiert. Es galt nur noch ein Monster zu besiegen und das war der gegnerische Doctor Blight mit einer hohen Anzahl an Lifepoints.

Letztendlich konnte ich mit einigen Verlusten auch den gegnerischen „Doctor Blight“ besiegen und das Battle, trotz des hohen Levelunterschieds, für mich entscheiden. GG an meinen Gegner @lokij.

Nach so einem Sieg ist die Freude natürlich größer als bei einem Sieg gegen gleichwertige Gegner. Und genau wegen Battles wie diesem finde ich Splinterlands als Spiel so toll. Es ist einfach sehr wichtig welche Taktik man wählt, vor allem in Verbindung mit den Gegebenheiten des Battles, wie unter anderem die verschiedenen Rulesets. Und dann kann man auch gegen Gegner gewinnen, dessen Monster ein höheres Level haben.
