Just purchased my Splinterland spellbook! The start of another journey.

I am not the game type. Honestly I hardly have time for games. But being a blockchain enthusiast and having read a lot of positive feedback about Splinterlands, I decided to start my journey today.

Many blockchain gamers here on hive publish their stories and experiences about Splinterlands. The cards, the monsters, their rewards and other things. To an outsider like me, I do not get it in full. Beyond the literal meaning of those things, I just dont get it. But today, I took the bold step to join Splinterlands and am sure I will have a community to assist me in the learning and gaming process.

I want to demonstrate how I purchased my $10 Splinterland Spellbook. This will be for the interest of those that follow my blog. I completed the transaction with Hive. So here is how I did it.

Start by logging in

• Visit Splinterland website and login: I accessed the splinterland website - https://splinterlands.com/. Then towards the top right hand side, I click the login button. You can see the screenshot below:

• Enter my login details: In the boxes provided, I entered my hive username and my posting key. Then I clicked the login button.

• Brave browser recommended: Once I signed in, I was presented with an announcement that promoted the Brave browser for optimum gaming experience. Since I was using Chrome before, I quickly downloaded and installed Brave. Then switched to the new browser as recommended. You can see the announcement below.

• Next is to learn how to play: Like I said before, I am 100% a novice here. So once inside my dashboard, I quickly located then "How to Play" link at top right. I clicked it to start my learning process.

• Card Types: I learnt about the two types of cards in the game - Summoners and Monsters. The page also explained that these cards are found in the Booster Packs. After going through information in this page, I clicked the Back button, to go back to the main menu.

• Buy Spellbook: Back in my Dashboard, I proceeded to do the first thing - Buy the Spellbook. The Spellbook sells for $10. It is the first thing to be done before you are allowed to play. Once I clicked the Buy Spellbook link, I selected to pay with crypto as you can see below.

• Paying with Hive: There are many cryptocurrencies listed and accepted for payment - including bitcoin and Ethereum. My choice was none of those. It must be our beloved hive.

• Checking out: The check out page shows how much I was supposed to pay in Hive - 28.207 Hive.

• Finishing up: I completed the payment by signing in with my active key through HiveSigner. Once everything was processed, the Spellbook was successfully unlocked. As you can see below. Should I say congratulations to me?

Conclusion/Next Steps

Now that I have completed this first big step, learning continues. Next is to buy the packs of cards that I will use to paly the game proper. Here is were the actual learning starts. I would like to learn about the monsters and their capabilities. I also figure out each has their limitations too. I have a lot to learn. But I will take my time to grasp it. After all, I want to play and win.
