Trading Splinterlands cards - Gold Furious Chickens are on sale

Splinterlands Gold Furious Chickens are on sale

The other day I spoke about using SplintX price history charts as a way to find and then buy cheap Splinterlands cards.

Within that blog, I used the Gold Furious Chicken as an example and following just wanted to do a follow up on how the prices of this particular NFT is tracking.

If you’ve been tracking prices since, you would have noticed that...

The flying chicken is swooping from above!

Or something like that…

What I really mean is that the lowest ask price for Gold Furious Chickens has been consistently falling.

Just take a look at the Chicken’s current for sale tab on SplintX below.

Splinterlands Gold Furious Chicken price list from the for sale tab of SplintX.

The lowest ask price we can see there is now as low as $289 USD.

Looking at the following chart, you can see that this is as low as Gold Chicken’s have been for a while now.

Splinterlands Gold Furious Chicken price list from the for sale tab of SplintX.

Swooop.

But while on the surface it looks like the Chicken prices are dropping, let’s just say that this can be a little deceiving.

Take a look at the next couple of ask prices down that list.

  1. $289
  2. $290
  3. $309
  4. $310
  5. $330
  6. $339
  7. DAYLIGHT
  8. $419
  9. $435

Notice the huge price gap between $339 and $419?

While it looks like prices have been steadily dropping, you have to remember that unlike the Splinterlands DEC market, these individual Splinterlands card markets are extremely illiquid.

With a single buyer purchasing just a handful of cards off the Gold Furious Chicken market, prices can quickly lurch higher

Final thoughts on trading Splinterlands NFTs

Check the charts on SplintX for lowball prices and then flick to the for sale tab to look for gaps.

In an overall bull market for Splinterlands assets, these are the sorts of price gaps that savvy Splinterlands card traders need to be on the lookout for.

Best of probabilities to you.

What can the gold chicken do more than the normal one?

Yep, 10% more DEC from battles won when using Gold Foils.

But don't sleep on their collectability.

There's only 1783 in circulation and Splinterlands adds 10K new accounts per day.

The normal chicken right now is down to $28. That's just criminal. It's the most popular card in the game and as of now there is no replacement for it. Currently, there are fewer than one for every 10 active accounts. Chickens should easily be $100 and the golden chicken should be at least $1000.

We're definitely on the same page when it comes to the chickens!

PS. Have you considered posting from the leofinance.io front-end instead of Splintertalk?

You're 'taxed' part of your LEO rewards by simply tagging posts with leo.

I'm fairly sure SPT has no such tax if you use leofinance.io. and just tag spt.

Interesting. I actually do most of my posting from Peakd.com but I put SPT as my first tag. I'll try out the leo interface and see if I like it.

You lose 20% (I think...) of your LEO rewards by simply including the tag when posting from other front-ends.

You're by far my fav Splinterlands blogger on Hive and will definitely see more LEO upvote support from the community if you make the switch :)

Keep in mind that you don't have to play the game to make money off Splinterlands as an investor.

Your non-gameplaying options include:

  • Splinterlands DEC DeFi options on Cub Finance.
  • Staking SPS on the Splinterlands platform itself.
  • Renting out Splinterlands cards.

With all of the new rewards cards coming out and Chaos Legion in the works, prices on cards were bound to come down as people have other things to spend their money on. Also, when you consider selling one Golden Chicken could potentially get you 5 or 6 level 5s or 6s of more useful cards you can see why some people might be selling.

Once these cards all dry up again I would expect the price to recover. In the meantime, I think you'll keep seeing these deals here and there. Just gotta be ready to pounce when they appear.

Yep, your thinking makes sense here.

From a gameplay perspective, there are certainly better places to allocate your capital than in a golden chicken.

But long-term from a purely NFT collectable point of view, I don't think you can go wrong even at the upper band of recent prices.

Besides a bit more DEC per fight, I don't really see any reason to buy the chicken right now. A normal one does enough work by itself to help in your in fights.

Ignoring the actual gameplay aspect for a second (of which they're the only gold 0 mana card), how about just because there's only 1783 in existence and Splinterlands adds 10K new accounts per day?

Seems a no brainer to me?

PS. I've asked this before, but who are the accounts voting on your comments?*

I am unsure but one day after I started receiving them after I started being more active on LeoFinance. I am unsure how I was added to the list but I won't complain about getting them though.

Which Splinterlands token have you invested in?

Have you invested in any cards to actually play the game as well?

I've always kept mine and it comes in handy when leveled up a bit 0 mana means I can fill it in the back to take a hit or in the front to take the first blow makes for a nice stop gap in a few battles.

Curious why the prices are falling though I don't believe anymore are being printed?

DEC earned per battle has fallen drastically so it's a crunch of supply there as more people stop playing it might boost here again with the new reward cards release.

I think the only reason that prices are falling is that from a gameplay perspective, there may be better cards to allocate your capital toward than the golden chicken?

Just chicken holders selling to buy better cards that they can use to earn more DEC.

A tradeoff between making more money in DEC via gameplay, than what they would earn in the chicken's future price appreciation.

Because from a purely collectable point of view, price is almost guaranteed to go up.
