i've played Splinterlands for about two months now and here r some changes to their play-to-earn model that i've noticed since i started playing . this play-to-earn game gives u multiple ways of earning . one way includes the daily SPS token airdrop limited to 365 days , which makes it a good time to get into this game right now before the airdrop ends

Splinterlands is a play to earn collectible card game akin to an auto-battler (similar to dota auto-chess and team fight tactics , except with cards) where u set up a team that consists of a summoner card and monster cards and then u let them all battle it out on their own . lotsa fun ! u can play for free but will not yet be able to earn in-game rewards . if u want the ability to earn in-game , then u can buy a $10 spellbook with SPS tokens or any other accepted cryptocurrency token which unlocks earning DEC tokens , playing in ranked matches , trading cards in the marketplace , etc . the spellbook is needed for the daily SPS token airdrops while not needed if u just wanna stake the SPS tokens in-game

NOTE: SPS (splintershards) and DEC (dark energy crystals) r actual cryptocurrency tokens . these tokens r not fake in-game currencies , like world of warcraft gold or final fantasy gils . maybe some day in the future , traditional games without a play-to-earn model will integrate blockchain technology to give their fake in-game currencies and items real world value .

MULTIPLE WAYS TO EARN IN AND OUT OF THE SPLINTERLANDS GAME:

1. claiming SPS tokens that r staked in-game
2. claiming SPS tokens from HIVE airdrops (limited time only)
3. winning DEC tokens from ranked battles (must reach bronze 2 to earn DEC)
4. opening chest rewards from completing the daily quest , which may drop DEC tokens or high value cards . the higher your rank , the more chest rewards u get (must reach silver 3 to earn DEC)
5. playing during each season , u get at least 5 chest rewards at the end of the season . the higher your rank , the more chest rewards u get (must reach silver 3 to earn DEC)
6. selling your "owned" non-starter cards on the in-game marketplace or other third party marketplaces
7. renting out your "owned' non-starter cards on the in-game marketplace or other third party marketplaces
8. converting/destroying unwanted or any "owned" non-starter cards into DEC tokens (not recommended as u can earn more DEC by selling the card on a marketplace since other players will want your card to level up their own cards by combining multiples of the same card together)
9. joining in-game tournament events and placing at least in the top 20 depending on the tournament rules , will allow u to earn some rewards out of a shared prize pool
10. buying and opening card packs may drop rare and unique cards , which can be valuable assets . if u do not open the card packs and just hodl them , u can earn more SPS tokens from the airdrops for a limited time
11. (unofficial) joining the fun-loving , party-hardy Splinterlands communities on twitch or discord and partaking in their esports events or challenging their generous players who may reward u some SPS or DEC tokens , cards , card packs , vouchers , or any other tradeable in-game asset .
    why is this listed as a viable play-to-earn method ? cuz there's no other nft game that has built a vast following from 2018 (other than maybe Axie Infinity) , where their players r generous enuff to hold challenges and tournaments .
    also , in Splinterlands unlike other play-to-earn games , the developers made it extremely simple and user-friendly to easily transfer SPS or DEC tokens or any other transferrable in-game asset between players and this allows the whole community to share the wealth , a new concept known as community revenue or global revenue as opposed to individual revenue , business revenue , or national revenue
12. joining a guild and participating in guild brawls
13. joining random giveaways on the official discord server or else on unofficial yet vetted fan-made servers (watch out for scammers!)
14. publishing an article on splintertalk or peakd will allow u to earn other cryptocurrency tokens
15. (in the future) farming resources gathered from land u own .
