Share Your Battle Challenge : Mycelic Slipspawn | Keep Your Hands Out Of This Toxic Thing.

Hey there guys and gals of Splinterlands,
How are ya'll doing today?

Things are going kinda crazy in the Splinterlands. I closely follow the official Twitter account of the Splinterlands and today a tweet caught my attention.
It was a re-tweet of a tweet from the @aggroed by the official Splinterland Twitter account

Yeah, that's right some lucky dude pulled 44.14K SPS from daily quest (or maybe from the season chest). It's mind-blowing, isn't it??

Well, I'm not that lucky, my highest SPS from the chest is not even 5% of it. But this dude deserves a congratulation...

Anyway, it's time for this week's 'Share Your Battle Challenge' featuring MYCELIC SLIPSPAWN.

Just like the previous challenges, I'll share my best battle of this week using the Mycelic Slipspawn in my team.
I'll also share my strategy, team combination, and thoughts about the Mycelic Slipspawn.

So, read on...

THE LORE

Share Your Battle Challenge Mycelic Slipspawn.png

The small fort was impregnable. In fact, from recollection, Ursca couldn’t remember the last time it had even been attacked, which did beg the question as to why it was there. Apparently the Realm of Silence was nearby, tunnels dug beneath the ground by rat-like creatures, but he didn’t believe any of that, it was all just an excuse to keep them penned up in the uncomfortable old garrison.

A shout snatched his attention away from the mundane task of chopping firewood and he looked up to the wall where one of the guards was waving vigorously.

“Bowmen, we need bowmen up here now!” the man cried.

Ursca forgot what he was doing, dropping the axe and running to the wall, excitement at what was on the other side dispelling any hint of alarm or panic. When he reached the palisade and looked over, he was met with the strangest of sights. It appeared the forest had sprouted legs and was shambling towards them, led by a peculiarly dressed woman and a shuffling…was that some kind of mushroom? As they neared though he could see it wasn’t a woman at all, more like some sort of infected witch, and the other thing was white and rubbery looking with fiery hair, bright eyes and a white lattice work that blossomed out behind it.

Moss and rotten spores began to appear across the wood stockade, creeping up the wall, prompting Ursca to edge away. Some of the guards fired arrows at the approaching throng but they all turned in the air at the last moment, striking the white fungus creature at the front. None of it caused any damage though and the rotting horde continued, inexplicably on. He wanted to turn and run away but his limbs felt suddenly leaden, the energy sapped from his body. Then a guard screamed and Ursca looked along the wall. He watched in horror as the fungal spores reached the poor man, quickly absorbing the life from his body and turning him into a rotting husk within seconds.

Closing his eyes, Ursca dropped to the ground and began to sob.

BATTLE STATS AND ABILITIES OF THE MYCELIC SLIPSPAWN

Before I share my strategy and the battle, let's talk about the stats and abilities of this card.

Mycelic Slipspawn Stats.png

The Mycelic Slipspawn is a Rare Earth unit card from the Chaos Legion edition.
This magic attack card costs 9 mana to use in the battle which makes this card a high-mana-cost card.
Talking about the abilities, this monster has the 'taunt' ability starting from level 1. With this ability, all enemy monsters target this monster (if they can).
When it reaches level 4, the 'forcefield' ability is applied. Using this ability, this monster takes only 1 damage from attacks with the power 5+.
At the highest level, i.e level 8 it gains the 'slow' ability. This ability helps this monster to reduce the speed of all enemy monsters.
Stats of this card also increases through levels, from 2 magic attacks, 2 speeds, and, 10 health in level 1, to 2 magic attack, 3 speeds, and 11 health in level 4.
At the highest level 8, the stats of this card are 3 magic attacks, 3 speeds, and, 12 health.

What is the best ruleset and summoner to use Mycelic Slipspawn ?

The Mycelic Slipspawn can be used in any mid-to-high mana-cap battle. This magic attack monster has a high health amount, therefore a good tank card in the Earth splinter.
About the use-cases of this card, please read the last part of this article.
About the summoner to use, Obsidian is the preferred choice but you can also use the Delwyn Dragonscale from the Dragon splinter as it increases its attack to +1.

THE BATTLE

Now, it's time to share my strategy and the lineup for the best battle I won using the Mycelic Slipspawn in my team.

RULESET

Ruleset.png

Mana Cap: 36
Ruleset:
Explosive Weaponry: All monsters have the blast ability.
Spreading Fury: All monsters have the enrage ability.
Active Splinter: Earth.

My Strategy and Team Setup

As the only splinter active in this battle was Earth and one of the rulesets was 'explosive weaponry' I took the chance to test my strategy of using the Mycelic Slipspawn against the 'blast' ability.
I placed the Mycelic Slipspawn in the tank position and as I told earlier in this post, used two tank heal monsters the Wood Nymph and the Goblin Psychic in the 3rd and 4th positions.
I was certain that my opponent will use a magic attack team, so I used the Mushroom Sheer in the 2nd to reduce the magic attacks of the enemy team using its 'silence' ability.
My last monster was a very useful one, the Spirit Miner. A magic attack monster with the 'swiftness' ability that was indeed very needed in this battle, the speed.
So here's my team -

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

My strategy worked exactly how I expected.
Mycelic Slipspawn did a great job soaking all the attacks from the opponent team and the Venator Kinjo blocking the blast effect. Thus my backline was very safe.
The Mushroom Sheer and the Goblin Psychic reduced the magic attacks of the enemy team further. Thus my tank monster received minimal damage.
Two tank heal monsters the Wood Nymph and the Goblin Psychic healed my tank monster effectively.
And lastly, the Spirit Miner increased the speed of my team. Thus my team has the speed advantage in this battle, which is crucial for any 'blast' ability battle.
And of course, the Obsidian made my magic attack team more powerful with her +1 magic attack buff.
With this good synergize team, I defeated my opponent very easily without losing any of my team monsters.
The battle was short, with only two rounds, but was fun and I'm very happy that my strategy worked this finest.

My Takes On The Mycelic Slipspawn

Mycelic Slipspawn is a high mana cost card but can be useful in various scenarios.

Usecase 1

This magic attack card has enormous health and the 'taunt' ability. Therefore it can be used as a tank card.
From level 4, this monster achieves the 'forcefield' ability. Therefore it can be a game changer in high mana cap battles where monsters have huge attacks.

Usecase 2

The Mycelic Slipspawn can also be used to spread the opponent's attack using its 'taunt' ability.
In mid to high mana cap battles, place the Grund in the first position and the Mycelic Slipspawn in the last or middle position, then use a card with the 'triage' ability and your team is ready to beat the opponent.

Usecase 3

But the most effective way I use the Mycelic Slipspawn in the 'explosive weaponry' ruleset or against the Yodin Zaku. Place this card in the tank position, use Ventor Kinjo, and two tank heal monsters the Wood Nymph and the Goblin Psychic and of course the summoner Obsidian.
I proved this strategy in the battle I shared above and I'm happy to have this card in my inventory.

*PS. I'm not here for getting upvotes and content curating only, but I love to write and share my real experiences in Splinterlands with my readers. And if this gets me paid, it feels good.
I don't know why my last post on social media challenge didn't get any upvote from Splinterlands team though I posted it in their social media challenge post.
I know the upvotes are not guaranteed but as far as I know, I maintained and fulfilled each and every required parameter.
It's really demotivating and I request the @splinterlands team to take a look into this matter.

Until next time,
Peace.
