Splinterlands Battle Mage Secrets : FIRE AND REGRET | Archers, It's Time To Keep Down Your Bow-Arrows.

Hello there my Splinterlands Fam.
How are you today.? I hope you all are doing great.

With retiring the Share Your Battle weekly challenge, the Battle Mage Secrets weekly challenge is live. I must say, the new challenge is much more competitive and challenging because it's not about a card but about a specific ruleset. You have to fight more battles to pick one to share. Because not every time you will get the desired ruleset. Then again, it's not sure that you'll win that battle.
It's tough but it's fun writing though. I surely will miss the old Share Your Battle challenge.

This is the 12th week of this challenge and this week's Battle Mage Secrets challenge is about the Fire & Regret ruleset.

Just like the previous challenges in this blog, I'll discuss the Fire & Regret ruleset and share the best battle playing in this ruleset.
So, read on...

A Few Words About The Fire & Regret Ruleset

Fire & Regret.png

The 'fire & regret' is a relatively new ruleset. In this ruleset, all units receive the 'return fire' ability at the start of the battle. Damage returned is equal to damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up.

Each unit having ranged attacks receive damage back and if the enemy team uses the 'amplify' ability, it increases the damage.

The best strategy in this ruleset is... not to use any ranged attacks card/s... he he he...
Jokes aside, in most cases, using the ranged attackers is the least favorite, I mean for me at least. Therefore, playing in this ruleset is easy for me, at least in terms of choosing the summoner and the monsters.

Playing with a magic attack team is always my first favorite but sometimes you have to play with your second favorite, the melee attack.
But if there's no way other than playing with a ranged attack based team (Going With Distance + Fire & Regret combo), try to use the 'heal' and/or 'shield' ability monsters and backed them up with the 'martyr' monsters.

Now I'm sharing my strategy and the lineup for the best battle I won while the Fire & Regret ruleset is active.

Odd Ones Out: Only Monsters with odd Mana costs may be used in battles.

My Strategy and Team Setup

SUMMONER

Lorna Shine

The mana cap and the ruleset combo were perfect to play with a 'sneak' team from the Life splinter led by the summoner Lorna Shine.

Team Setup

Team Setup.png

When setting up my team, I presumed that the enemy will use a melee attack-based team and I made my team accordingly.
I used the Disintegrator as the tank because of its armor+hp combo. And it has two best abilities, 'demoralize' and 'trample', the best for a tank card.
In the second and third positions, there is the Feral Spirit and Stitch Leech with the 'sneak' ability.
The Silvershield Assassin having the 'sneak+double attack' abilities, is placed in the fourth position, which played the most crucial role in this battle.
In the fifth position, there's the Scavo Hireling with the 'repair' ability. In the last position, there's the Uraeus, a good low mana-cost 'sneak' card.

Now, that my team is ready, let's charge into the battle.

Analysis Of The Key Factors Of The Battle

Leaving me complete surprise, my enemy made a balanced team with melee+magic attackers. His team is faster and safeguarded with enough armor against my melee attack-based team. But my 'sneak' attack team, especially the Silvershield Assassin did wonders in this battle.
As I said earlier, Lorna Shine and the 'sneak' attack team is a great combo for melee attack-based battles.
