We have another challenge to master! This time around we are trying our luck without our beloved legendary units. Why? Well, because we have lost them. Well, not really, it is just the ruleset is called that way. In this post, we will try to explore the opportunities with this special ruleset and what our strategy could be here. Furthermore, we will talk about the units that we are going to use and last but not least take a look at another battle that we are able to decide into our favor. With that being said, let’s jump straight into it!

Lost Legendaries Ruleset!

First things first, we need to cover the actual ruleset. What is there to say about that? Well, the name is kind of misleading. Did we lose our legendary units or are the legendary units just lost and can not navigate themselves back into our team? I guess this question will be unanswered. What we can answer though is the question what this ruleset means for us. In a nutshell: We can not use legendary units. This sucks, because a lot of strategies are actually based around these cards and make a strategy good or bad. Well, now that we are facing this situation, we need to find strategies and ways to win games without these special cards.

Cards & Strategy!

First question to ask is, which Splinter offers the best units that are not legendary. I must admit that this is hard to answer. I think that every Splinter has their own cards to play, which is why I would not go with a specific one. Saying that, the Earth Splinter has the advantage of boosting magic attacks which can be helpful, especially considering the battle that we are about to play. Furthermore, the Earth Element offers a very special card that I really like: Grund! With his double strike Ability, this card is just insane and with a total of 10 health, this card is also very hard to take down quickly. In order to boost him even more, we played Thane Newsong. While he might not have any attacking value, he is serving us with 7 health and is also buffing our Grund making his attacking value 8 per turn!

Next up we have our usual suspects! With Goblin Psychic we can deal 3 damage each turn while also healing Grund up for more damage in the next turn. I think Grund was able to perform 3 rounds of damage which would probably take him on place number one with 24 total damage in the battle. Yes our Goblin might not have the quickest reflexes or has only 5 health points but he is definitely a great addition in every team, regardless whether legendary cards are allowed or not. The same statement goes for Regal Peryton. This attacker is just great! With 6 speed and 3 attack each turn, this card is just cutting through enemy lines. I think this card might be my most used card in this entire game.

Example Battle

We included the obligatory taunt card into our team and added an additional striker to get our damage count up. With all of these additions we are able to deal around 20 damage per turn! On the other side we are facing a very similar opponent with a Earth team. While we were trying to boost our attack, he went for a more diverse approach. He also used Grund as a tank but did not buff him. On top of that, he only used 3 magic attackers instead of our 4. With that in mind his total attack value went up to 22. So why was he not able to win in the end? It all comes down to timing and where the attacks and damage go. While we were able to eliminate his taunt and Tank rather quickly, he struggled until the end to get rid of Grund. On top of that the additional armor ruleset helped us to get more hit points since he had 3 non magic attackers. This way we were more protected than him and were able to pull this battle into our direction!
