Are you new to Splinterlands and searching for some advice, then you found the correct series! In this specific showcase episode, I wanted to talk about a new way of protecting your most precious units in battle. Since the latest addition of some cards there are a few options of Taunted minions which I find very nice to play with. While in the past there was not a lot of selection, it all changed recently. This is why I wanted to try out a very specific way of playing: Two taunts. That’s right, in this episode we will explore the way of playing with two whole taunt units! With that being said, if this article motivated you to start playing this amazing game, then feel free to join the fun over the following link:

Double Taunt Strategy

Let’s start off by saying that this strategy is probably not new to a lot of you. Nevertheless, I figured that people that might be interested might want to see it anyways. I think there are not a lot Elements that you can try it out with, which is why I used the earth Splinter for that particular use case. It is important to mention that this strategy is probably only working with very high mana costs since both of the taunt cards are costing us 20 mana in total. But with that being said, the protection is really amazing!

What do I mean by that? Well, how this strategy works is as follows. Usually, you are using a Taunt card to protect your support cards or cards that can do a good amount of damage but are easily defeated. Furthermore, you can more or less control how the attacks of your opponent will go and where they will strike. With that being said, once the Taunt is defeated all hell breaks loose. Your units are open to be hit and your strategy can go down the toilet.

With the double taunt strategy, we are able to not only protect our units for longer but also make sure that our opponent will attack only certain cards. The order follows the position on the field. The first Taunt will always be target number one. Once it falls, Taunt number two will be attacked. If we place them on opposite sides of the field, the card in place number two will go into the tank position but will be still major protected by the taunt in the back. This way we can ensure a safe way to get our hits in.

The two main cards here would be our regular taunt, Mycelic Slipspawn, which we are using regularly. The second taunt, that we would put in the first position is the new Legendary addition Terraceous Hulk. With his additional Void Armor Ability he has a total of 15 hit points that are very hard to reduce in one go which makes him also a good tank. With his 4 melee attack he would be also able to deal a good amount of damage.

Rest Of The Team

For the rest of our team, we need to ensure, that we are getting our damage in as well as able to support our Taunt cards by healing them. The most obvious choices here are always regal Peryton which has the Speed to attack first, and with a buffed three magic attack is dealing a good amount of damage. For the healing portion I always like to use Goblin Psychic which is really a good combination of healing and damage. In general a very good card to use overall.

Additionally to that, we are using our Queen to guarantee us some more Armor and therefore protection against Melee attacks. Last but not least, we are using the Magi of Chaos to complement our Magic attackers. With all of these combined we are able to deal 18 damage in one turn while strategically deflect the opponents’ attack in areas that we can afford to take a hit.

Example Battle

With our strategy out of the way, let’s talk about the actual battle. This one is actually pretty cool, because we were up against a very strong team with probably the strongest card in the game at the moment: Quora Towershield! This Gladius card is just insane and thanks to our double taunt strategy, we were able to mitigate her amount of damage to a minimum and eliminate her as quickly as possible. After that, it was still not a piece of cake but it was definitely easier since the main danger was gone. In the end it appeared to be a very comfortable win after all!
