Are you new to Splinterlands and searching for some advice, then you found the correct series! In this Beginner’s Guide Series, we are discussing things that new players of Splinterlands should know or try to learn. In this specific episode we will talk about a very nice combination of Rulesets, Abilities and Elements that will take almost everyone out. I am talking specifically about the very special Ability of Bloodlust which comes with Gladiator cards as well as very selected legendary cards. Furthermore, there is the new Ability of Weapons training that allows you to buff monsters without attack. Last but not least we will talk about how speed is very important in this game and we will take a look at a very specific battle where all of these elements will be combined! With that being said, if this article motivated you to start playing this amazing game, then feel free to join the fun over the following link:

Bloodlust

Frist things first, let’s talk about the Bloodlust art. It actually reminds me of the show “Demon Slayer” where the Demons have specific Blood Arts. But I am going into a different direction here. What is making this Ability so special you might ask? Well, once this monster is defeating another monster it will increase all of its stats! This means that it gets faster, healthier and hits harder. Isn’t this amazing? Yes, and this also the reason why only selected cards have this ability, first and foremost Gladiator cards which can only be played with a special summoner or if there is a special Gladiator Ruleset in play.

One of these special cards is Tatiana Blayde. She was actually one of my first Gladiator cards which makes me a very lucky guy I suppose. Well, not only does she have the Bloodlust Ability, but she also has two attacking styles which also very rare in itself. With the ranged and the Melee attacking style she has the opportunity to attack twice a turn and with that increases her chance to actually kill other monsters which then increases here stats. You already see that this is becoming kind of a snowball effect!

But there are also “regular” monsters that could have the Bloodlust ability. Well not so regular after all. In general they are legendary like Grum Flameblade. I really like this card as it comes with 4 melee attack, 5 armor and 10 health in the first place. On top of that it has the Void Armor Ability which makes him a little immune against Magic attacks. With the Fire Summoner Tarsa we can ensure that his attack is reaching a higher stat which also increases his chances to defeat the opponent’s monsters which then increases his stats. I think you already see where I am going with this.

Weapons Training & Speed!

So how can we make this team any better you might ask? Well, there are two more aspects to this team. The first one being Speed. If you are a sports fan, you probably heard the saying “Speed Kills”. This could be not more true here. With very high attack values and additionally a very high speed you are ensured to hit first and once these heavy hits land, oh boy, your enemy will not see any land in this battle. Especially in this battle with a summoner that grants us an additional speed and a card that also increases the speed of all allies we are getting two bonus speed points. With Krash Wanderford were are having a monster with 8 speed that is just insane. On top of that he also has the Bloodlust Ability since he is a Gladiator.

Unfortunately, he is a very support heavy card which means that he has no attack. But this does not matter with the newest ability: Weapons training! As mentioned in the beginning we are able to give cards without attack now some portion of attacking points. This is very easily done by placing a card like Ferexian Hero next to it! This way we are ensuring that Krash will get some extra boost in attack and furthermore we have an additional beast in our team. With 3 melee attack, 3 speed, 1 armor and 7 health this will allow us to distribute even more damage throughout the battle!

Heavy Hitters

So how could we round this team up? As we are already pretty heavy on attack, what else could this team need? I know it! MORE ATTACK!!! And I know the exact two guy for it! With Mordeus and the Forgotten One (who is never forgotten in my teams) we are getting a total of 9 attack (11 with buffs) into our team. Not only that but the latter one will be functioning as a tank since he is bringing 4 armor and 8 health to the table. Mordeus has not so great health and armor stats but he also does not need it since he has the Opportunity Ability which would allow him to attack from any position. It would not matter in this battle anyways because all Melee attacker will be allowed to attack from any position due to the Sneak Ruleset but it is always good to mention the positive things about a card, isn’t it?

Example Battle

And now, to the moment we all have been waiting for. How will this team perform in battle? Well, to be perfectly honest, our enemy did not stand any chance. Not only did he chose the completely wrong team to go into this battle but he also did not utilize his whole mana potential. It almost seems like a fake simulation at this point. Nevertheless, I think that any other team would have had trouble with our current selection here, so we look at this as a test round. Before our opponent was able to attack even once, we already dealt 23 damage and got rid of half of his team! On top of that we managed to collect Bloodlust two times which is also minimizing his chance to even land a hit. In the end Tatiana managed to have 11 speed which is incredible in my opinion!
