In this specific episode I wanted to talk about the extreme low card prices in the market at the moment! We will go down memory lane and talk about the price development of the past 2 years. Furthermore, we will discuss how the current prices are affecting future markets. Last but not least, I will present some bargains that are a must for every beginner in the game! Take Advantage!
Alright guys, let’s go back a few years. A young and very crypto inexperienced ga38jem is stumbling across this game: Splinterlands. Imagine his excitement to see a game that combines a few favorite games of his childhood together: Yu-Gi-Oh and Hearthstone! “Wow!”, he is thinking, “that must be an awesome game!” and he was right! Unfortunately, back at that time the NFT hype was real and the crypto community was in a real bull market. Therefore, the prices in this game were extravagant. Cards that we are about to discuss were over 30 USD and you would have been considered lucky to obtain a a legendary card.
With that being said, the situation changed and there are definitely more available cards on the market now. The reason for that is a combination of a few things. First and foremost it is probably because we are currently in a crypto bear market. In general, this brings the hype of these games a bit down and allows players that are really interested in this game to thrive. Another reason why the card prices went down are the card overflow that happened with the last expansion. With more players, you need to print more cards. This makes sense. The unfortunate problem was that shortly after, the crypto hype cooled off.
Well, I say unfortunate, but it is really fortunate for everyone who is in the game right now or who is about to start it! Why? I am very confident that the prices will go back up again. I remember when I was starting off and wondering how people had such strong decks in their portfolio. The reason was clear very quickly. They just got into the game a bit earlier and were able to obtain these cards for much cheaper. Basically the same situation as we are in right now.
The reason I am saying that is because this game is very solid with very solid developers. There are regular updates to the game and I don’t feel left out when the community or the developers are going down a route. Yes, some decisions might be discussable but I am confident enough to say that everyone has the future of the game in mind!
Absolute Bargains!
With that being said, let’s take a look at the things that we are actually here for: The bargains that are the current cards int the game! First of all, let me start with the obvious choice, the summoners. These cards are the backbone of each and every deck and allow the actual units to be higher levels or not. This means that the higher the level of your summoner the higher and stronger your units on the field can be. At the moment the summoners for Life, Fire and Death are really the cheapest ones on the market and I must admit that those prices look very tempting! I remember back one year, these cards were around 5 USD each and I am very sure that once the demand comes back these cards will go as fast as warm bread in a bakery!
Next up are the actual units that I think are absolutely insane at the moment. We will start with the most obvious one: Djinn Oshannus. I think that at the moment every Water opponent that I am facing ahs this card. I mean why would you not get probably the best card in the game for such a cheap price, right?! Back in my starting days I was considering buying this card for 30 USD. Back in the days, this was the bargain price that I was expecting would never go lower! Now for around 80 cents this card is just insane and blows my mind.
Furthermore, we have another legendary. I think since the change of a few thresholds for the league requirements, legendary cards are not really that important anymore. Nevertheless, there a few cards that are still worth buying. Cards such as the element Fiends as well as some great ability and attacking cards. In my opinion Zyvax Vuul is a bit overlooked. Yes, he might not look like the best card on level 1 but on his second level this card gains the ability of close range which would allow him to attack from the first position. This makes him very usable in general and especially for Earthquake battles!
Next up we have an underused card in the Fire Splitner. Djinn Inferni does not seem like the perfect card to use in combination with the Frie Splinter but in my opinion this card has a lot things that are right. For starters, he has 3 mana attack on level one which can not be said about every card. Yes his health is not the greatest but with 3 speed he is also not the slowest! For around 0.6 USD this card can defiantly make a difference in battle!
Last but not least we have also an all time favorite. It is always great to have cards that are supporting and can also attack at the same time. Well, one of these cards is Venari Wavesmith. With his magic attacking style he is able to attack from any position and with his protect ability he is granting every unit on our side additional 2 armor. For just 3 cents this card is an absolute must have in my opinion!
Conclusion
There are defiantly more bargains like that out there and I am most confident that everyone who is taking their chances now will not regret it in the future! I am sure that this game has a great future ahead and I am looking forward to paly this game in the future as well!
