Bits about Splinterfest * Rented Out for the End of Season

Bits about Splinterfest

The first Splinterfest is over... Unfortunately, I can't say much about it, because the team decided to not broadcast live the event (it would have been mostly during the night my time anyway), but rather keep the initial impressions for those who bought a ticket and attended the event, and they will publish recordings of the event at a later time.

The first stream (which I saw this morning) regards the second day of the fantastic Open Tournaments held at Splinterfest - called the Coliseum of Chaos - which had some juicy land plot rewards for the winners. If you haven't seen it, here it is:

The stream starts with the ending of what seems to be the QA session of an in-person Town Hall meeting.

From what I read, more recordings will come up during this and the following weeks. This is something Weird Beard put in discord:

We will be releasing the panels that were recorded throughout the week/weeks after Splinterfest. It was a choice to allow for players at the event to hear the exciting content first.

Tournaments tomorrow will be streaming starting at 12pm PDT tomorrow on both YouTube and Twitch.

The tournaments he's referring to are the ones I talked about at the beginning and the link to the recording is up there.

Rented Out for the End of Season

Back to our regular Splinterlands world.

I decided to rent out my cards from my main playing account for the rest of the season. The bot brought my account to Diamond 1 without any intervention on my part, so thank you Mr. Bot. Quite spectacular evolution, I must say...

image.png

Even though there are almost 4 more days to the EoS, I decided to play it safe and rent out my cards now.

From my own experience, the competition during the last 2, maybe even 3 days grows exponentially, and it's a higher risk to drop from Diamond 1 than an opportunity to reach Champion League.

Next season I might play tactically a little better during the mid-season period to see if we can attempt to reach CL3, Mr. Bot and I.

The bot's performance is comparable to mine. Maybe I was a day quicker last season. But that's a variable. I also won more chests, but also played until the last day. Another variable. But I was also able to do so much more with the time saved this season.

That strengthens my decision to keep the bot running going forward. The difference is that from next season we will both play the account. But the bot will do the grinding work.

Since I'll leave the cards rented out until after the EoS, I won't play next season during the first 2 days or so, at least not in the Wild format. That isn't a big loss, because competition is high at the beginning of the season. I might play in the Modern format before all my cards will be usable since I'll start Modern from Silver 3 as I usually prefer to, so I shouldn't have any issues winning.

You mentioned the bot brought your cards to Diamond level without your intervention. I looked through the splex website now and i couldn’t find how to make that happen. Any help?

The playing bot is called archmage, but currently there are no slots available to buy.

Ohh thanks for that. I’m sure I saw this info sometime in the past but I didn’t pay enough attention

You can buy them from TribalDex at any time, but they are more expensive.

I’ll like to believe they’re these guys?

Yep, these are the ARCHMAGE tokens.

Awesome. Which particular one do you use or recommend?

I use the cheaper one. The other ones are better, especially in perspective, when they'll start charging differentiated fees. But also more expensive.

Okay thanks for this. So after buying, what do I do next

You move it to the account where you want to activate it. Then you activate it from Splex (your account must be added to Splex).

You click here to activate it:

There are some settings to check and update to your liking here:

I’m mostly always on mobile so it was hard for me to actually see the Archimage option. @gadrian, if you knew anyone that could reach out to the devs to make an adjustment to that part of the UI cuz I’m sure many mobile users have come across the same problem

It sure would have been great if they would have broadcast live. Maybe next year. Thanks for the great information.

Yeah, especially for the Americans, who are on the same timezone. In Europe it was nighttime, but I would have been happy with the recording the next day.

They have their reasons. Mainly, I believe they want to give an extra competitive advantage to those who bought a ticket.

I think it makes sense to wait to show the content until later. It obviously wouldn't do much for ticket sales in real time this year, but maybe next year, it'll convince some people to go. Depending on where the world is at next year. We could be a year into World War III by that point. haha.

Yeah, that's how I see things too. An extra leverage to ticket buyers. And early marketing for next year.

Sounds like an interesting strategy. I may have to look into doing something like that. Unfortunately, my cards are not high enough to attain Diamond level, so I doubt I would earn that much by renting out all of my cards. I might give it a try on one of my accounts, though, to see if it is a viable plan.

Make sure you keep enough cards for your CP. Or withdraw enough of them 2 days before the EoS to have enough for the league you reached. I keep forgetting about this and I remember when I see I no longer have enough CP. Luckily early enough to fix things.

I don't now that I would have thought about that. Thanks for the reminder.

Isn't that why bots were invented? To do the grinding work for us?

Nice job on getting to Diamond. Did you make sure to leave enough Collection Power so you don't get downgraded?

No, I just realized this morning when I saw I didn't have enough CP for Diamond 1, I'll have to recall some of my troops back before the EoS because of that. Thanks for the reminder! Again, lol.
