Changes to My Hive Goals - Week 24, 2022

avatar

Wow! What a week! I don't know about you but I'm having a blast with this market and understanding the possibilities that lie ahead for us.

That doesn't mean the brutal market conditions don't affect us. I'm not talking about prices going into the ground, although they offer interesting opportunities too.

But referring to these Hive goals of mine, for example, I need to reevaluate them under the new reality.

One of my goals since the beginning of the year was to add at least 5000 HBD to savings by the year-end.

That was one of the initial goals, together with my goal to reach 25000 powered-up HIVE.

Under the current market conditions, I believe it's wrong to pursue both of these goals because I will probably not reach either of them.

That's why I decided to freeze my HBD goal and postpone it to a later date. My top priority becomes reaching 25000 HP this year.

Depending on price evolutions for HIVE and HBD, I will use HBD to either swap or convert it to HIVE. At the same time, based on market conditions I will decide if I want to use all my HBD and increase my HIVE Power goal or stick to 25000 HP and keep part of the HBD.

Another change that I'll make is that I'll add LEO as a goal, after being challenged to do so, and thinking about it.

And finally, I establish a hierarchy of my goals, based on which were first and how difficult I believe they continue to be.

Here's the hierarchy/priority:

  1. 25000 Hive Power (challenging - more or less challenging depending on how much HBD I'll use)
  2. Maxing CL set (challenging)
  3. 10000 LEO Staked (normal? - remains to be seen in time)
  4. 100000 SPS Staked (easy)

That being said, let's see the progress of the goals this week.

HIVE Power Goal

I'll miss tracking my HBD progress, but sometimes you need to make changes based on reality.

72 more HIVE added this week.

LEO Staked

I start this LEO goal with 5600 staked LEO. The target is to reach 10000 by the year-end.

Splintershards (SPS) Staked Goal

Another week when I staked 2000 SPS. On track with this goal to be completed by the time the airdrop is over.

Maxing Chaos Legion Set*

*) or reaching the limit beyond which I consider upgrading a card not profitable

I decided to add this overall situation, to better gauge my progress, because I still need to push hard on this goal:

Total CL Cards (incl. reward)Maxed or LimitPercent
1314937.40%
Total CL Cards (excl. reward)Maxed or LimitPercent
982828.57%

I finally decided not to wait and buy to max the final 2 rewards cards from the initial batch I still had un-maxed: Venari Heatwave and Venari Wavesmith.

Plus, I maxed two other cheap, common cards: Venari Scout and Shadow Snitch.

Social Targets

I started the week with 8346 comments and 8667 replies.

And now I am at 8494 comments and 8833 replies. They are both above my targets of 81 comments and 76 replies weekly to reach 10k of each by the year's end, which is good!

The best thing to do is to not compare, and focus on your growth.

Thanks for the advice. However, I meant that I admire your determination, not comparison and focusing on growth is my top priority not competition. You can't even compete with someone here because we all have different reasons of being here and we might not be pursuing same niches or interest.

Thanks! Sometimes, I'm like a bulldog with a bone, lol. Which can be both a good and a bad thing. But at least I learned to be flexible, thus the changed goals here.

Yeah, sometimes, it is normal to adapt when and where necessary so long as we're doing the right thing and it's heading towards success.

Its always good to re-align your goals now and again to changing conditions. I am also reconsidering my HBD goal.

Increasing HBD in savings is an important goal for me. And I will pick it up again. But right now it makes little sense, as it's very hard to add to HBD and it can be used to boost HIVE when it will (probably) drop to a lower level. Or even now, at this price.

Congratulations @gadrian! You have completed the following achievement on the Hive blockchain and have been rewarded with new badge(s):

You made more than 8500 comments.
Your next target is to reach 9000 comments.
You received more than 6000 HP as payout for your posts, comments and curation.
Your next payout target is 7000 HP.
The unit is Hive Power equivalent because post and comment rewards can be split into HP and HBD

You can view your badges on your board and compare yourself to others in the Ranking

I am looking at HIVE and LEO.

But there are just too many options right now. From the stock market to BTC and ETH. Everything is on sale.

It's hard to decide where to deploy the cash and I don't want to buy everything now and run out of cash should the dip continue to dip more.

I DCA on levels. Decide what you want to buy with fiat and at what levels, and buy more as the price reaches each level. That's one way to do it.

Under the current market conditions, I believe it's wrong to pursue both of these goals because I will probably not reach either of them.

Agree with you about this... The market is down, and it's perfect for accumulation of HIVE, when it goes in reverse, you can push HBD... There is no sense in forcing both at the same time when markets are not favorable for some of them...

Yep. that is my plan right now. Seema like the dual goals only work if they both hover around $1, otherwise, one of them will be badly affected.

I think that is a realistic goal change. I do think we are in a crypto bear market and the price of Hive isn't that likely to recover that much. So the HBD goal might be tough without a ton of outside injection.

The interesting fact is that I took into consideration that it might be a bear market this year. But I didn't realize how much it'll affect my ability to pursue the HBD goal. Meanwhile, I added the Splinterlands goals too, which weren't officially there at the beginning of the year (although I had them in my mind). Overall, it's the better solution.
