Genesis League Sports: More Economy Engines Started

avatar

Yesterday I talked about the sale of DEC-Batteries that just started and what was my pretty radical decision on that.

But also yesterday more news came from the Splinterlands' broader ecosystem, namely from Genesis League Sports (GLS).

If you read my posts over time. you know I don't focus on GLS. Not because it doesn't have potential, but because I simply decided to focus on something else, and I won't have the funds or the time to focus on both the way I want to.

That being said, I can't ignore when something big happens in GLS, even if I don't focus on it. After all, if GLS succeeds there's a great chance the success will overflow to some degree to the Splinterlands platform as well. And vice versa.

Yesterday, the Splinterlands team added a big chunk of updates to GLS.

I'll list them in the order they did, although for me the order of significance was different.

1. Introducing Franchise License (on GLG)

This is the equivalent of the Summoner's Spellbook for Splinterlands.

2. Introducing Credits

Same as on Splinterlands. A way to buy packs with USD directly. Credits were not added in this release.

3. GLGT for Bonus Packs and Discounts

The VOUCHER equivalent. GLGT will be usable to discount the price of packs from presale phase 2, for starters.

Looks like if you don't have the franchise license you can no longer buy packs... If I try to buy packs, it sends me to buy this license. It makes sense since you can't earn rewards or hold assets in your account without it, much like without the spellbook in Splinterlands.

4. GLUSD

Users will be able to burn GLX in order to receive GLUSD. 1 GLUSD will be the equivalent of $1 USD (similar structure to DEC in Splinterlands). Burning GLX will be the only way to mint GLUSD. GLUSD can be used to purchase packs going forward.

5. Single Sign On (SSO) for GLS and GLG

Single sign on will allow for an easier log in experience across GLS domains. Once logged in on GLG, if you then click the login button on GLS, you'll be automatically logged in on the platform and vice versa.

That's pretty cool! And its benefits will become more obvious as they add more games.

  1. GLUSD and GLGT bridged to Hive Engine

Everyone will be able to transfer GLGT and GLUSD between the platform and Hive Engine. This will allow everyone to buy/sell the tokens on Hive Engine and send them back into GLG.

Well, I admit, as someone who doesn't focus on GLS/GLG, this was the feature I expected the most.

On top of it, not sure if it was planned like that or if it was a coincidence, but if that was the plan I appreciated that these features were released before the DEC-B sale started.

That way, I could sell GLGT early enough and buy, well, DEC-B.

But for anyone waiting for more use cases on GLS/GLG, these are great news, as they are coming. But the gameplay for GLG will probably not begin soon, which is a variable that needs to be taken into consideration as well.

For anyone who receives the GLGT airdrop alongside GLX, this would be a great time to decide what to do.

You don't know if you receive this airdrop? If you have staked SPS, you receive both GLX and GLGT daily on Genesis League Sports. You need to claim them though.

The way splinter land team is working , GLS will be a success that will have positive impact on other tokens as well. It's a win win. Thanks for the detail post about GLS and telling us your plan about DEC-B.

Well, it's their first attempt to try something new besides Splinterlands. I agree, if it works, the effect will only be positive on the entire ecosystem, not only GLS and their asset holders.

Yep, we have GLS and GLG in the SplinterGlossary. I may have to take a look from time to time to see if I should update them.

Feels so crazy how little GLGT is worth

How much should it be for the pack discount? 1 GLGT = 5 USD? The full price is 10$ and with a GLGT it is 5$, or do I remember it incorrectly?

I suppose there were too many waiting to unload and too few waiting to buy more packs.

True, sometimes we can't focus on more things. Time management and Money management are needed in crypto activities. 👍

Nice info about GLG. Will look for it later when I have time 🤗

Exactly. We can't be everywhere and we don't have enough resources to be everywhere either.

I think it's great that they are kind of building off the Splinterlands model. It's something that works so there isn't much to experiment with. Of course, I am sure they will make changes as they are needed.

The interesting part is that great ideas they have for GLG are imported back into Splinterlands too. For example, Arenas on land. That's an idea they had on GLG with Stadiums. Sure, we already had Arenas for guilds, but used in a different way.
