This is a short sum-up table with the state of my goals in easier TLDR form. The table has only some information, so if you want details, they can be found in the post.

I include a link to the initial goal-setting post for 2023, for reference, if needed.

I imagine everyone in crypto knows what happened last week, so I won't get into it. If you don't, I summarized the important parts yesterday, as I usually do.

That created two currents in the market, as it often happens. Those who take the opportunity to buy or keep buying, and those who expect lower levels to start buying. Plus the ones that will likely end up losing: those who sell right now in fear.

Waiting for lower levels is smart. With one condition. That those levels are actually reached. That's why, personally, I stopped trying to be too smart, and instead, take consistent action.

I set two levels or sometimes multi-tier levels, which, when reached position me in the buying or selling camp. I don't necessarily set limit orders because that means I need to block those amounts in those orders.

For example, for me, HIVE below 40c is a buy. I bought above that level too, so I am flexible. Now that the market has been in a short-term downtrend, I'd rather buy cheaper, but I don't keep waiting, because in the past I've been a foul trying to do that. It doesn't always work out perfectly using my current strategy either. For example, I bought some HIVE at 32c, the day before it went down to 28c. I'm not disappointed about that. I'd be more disappointed in myself if I'd wait for a lower price which doesn't come and the trend reverses (usually sharply).

Let's see what changed since last week regarding my Hive goals.

HIVE Power (HP) + HBD in Savings Main Goal

I did buy more HIVE this week and I also invested more HIVE (see the last section). But I don't track in this section my liquid HIVE, only what I have powered up. Also, all my HBD is currently in withdrawal mode, but not yet out. I've seen others have taken the opposite stance, adding more to HBD savings and either waiting for lower HIVE price levels or trying to protect themselves from the current volatility in crypto.

Personally, I want to have the few hundred HBD I still have liquid, to be able to quickly react.

My staked HIVE remains at 31,058. HBD in savings is currently at zero (+437 in 2 withdrawals).

Here's what the evolution of the HP+HBD goal looks like:

image.png

I'll need to have one of the targets (HBD or HIVE) reached to consider this goal completed.

If a target becomes too easy, I may increase the target, but not forever. Just like the market can play against your targets, they can play in their favor too.

For the first time this year, I start to worry about accomplishing this goal. But on the bright side, having the price of HIVE this low (or lower) means I can buy more with HBD, and who knows... maybe I'll hit the target I didn't expect when I had set this goal.

LEO Staked Main Goal

I staked another 24 LEO since last week, just to have something staked this week. Otherwise, I'm saving for LPUD.

image.png

LPUD is on Thursday and I hope to add a few more LEO by then. Looks like from now on hitting the monthly guideline will be a true challenge because the high LEO price takes a toll on the delegation rewards and it's harder to buy LEO too.

Splinterlands Land Expansion Main Focus

Land expansion's main focus extends throughout 2023. Unless I change the strategy, it will be the only main focus / main goal for Splinterlands in 2023. But there will be several 1-3 months goals.

First Land-Related Goal: DEC/DEC-B Saved - Completed

This goal is COMPLETED.

Deadline (passed): When DEC-B offer runs out, either because all were sold out or because the time limit was reached (April 9th).

Target to consider the goal completed: 1.5 mil. DEC-B saved. Done!

DEC Saved 2 Goal - Stage 1 Completed

[COMPLETED] Deadline stage 1: June
Deadline stage 2: August
Deadline stage 3: End of 2023?

Target to consider the goal completed:

  • stage 1: 1.2m DEC (COMPLETED)
  • stage 2: 2.2 DEC (1m additional DEC)
  • stage 3: 5 DEC (2.8m additional DEC)

Current situation: 1.2m DEC (liquid) + minimal in LP.

Note: Goal completed and I need to focus a bit on my cards-staking goal for land until I start staking more DEC.

New Land-Related Goal: Maxed Cards for Staking on Land

The purpose of this goal is to build the amount of maxed-level cards I need for staking on my tract.

We will need to fill 5 slots per plot with staked cards, without requiring summoners (that doesn't mean they can't be used as regular cards).

So, what are the details of this goal?

Deadline:

  • stage 1: June 2023
  • stage 1.5: ???
  • stage 2: End of 2023 (this will be a new goal)

The total number of maxed-level* cards needed for staking on land: 500 (5 x 100).

  • stage 1: need 120 cards for land by the deadline (decreased from 220)
    • stretch goal: have optimized cards for 24 plots
  • stage 1.5: need 220 cards for land by the deadline
  • stage 2: have 500 cards for land
    • stretch goal: have optimized cards for 44 plots

(*) any card with at least 1000 PP suitable for the terrain types I own will do (better for better plots); doesn't have to be maxed

Current situation total: 121 / 500 (24.2%)

Current situation stage 1: 121 / 120

Time remaining until Stage 1 deadline: 2 weeks

Note: Normally, stage 1 of this goal is completed. I'll just give it another week to take another look and tweak things if necessary.

I could probably add some more cards from my deck if I'll need to (some are probably underutilized in my playing deck). New soulbound reward cards are options too.

Comments Made

Original goal: 18k, REDUCED to 17k, by the end of 2023.

I started this week with a total of 13924 comments made.

Ended the week with 14178 comments made, which brings the number of my comments this week to 254. Finally, happy to update this section of my Hive goals! You can read here why the jump in comments made this week.

I now need an average of 98 comments weekly to reach the goal of 17k. As I estimated in my post I linked above, the average dropped below 100 again.

Weekly Buy - DBONDs

I decided to buy another round in the first presale of DBOND bringing my total to 1,000 DBOND.

I never went big enough on this kind of project, worrying about centralization, but the good track record of the guys behind it, coupled with a better return and my recurring goals for HP convinced me.

I should be pleased with the results in the medium-long term. And I won't neglect the defi-like short-term HIVE drip per DAB evolution either.

You need to gear up your efforts to reach all these goals at the end of 2023.

Well, sometimes we have to pick and choose (or reevaluate). You are right that the second part of the year may be more difficult for keeping up with my goals, as they are.

I think that is a good mindset. You never know where the market will go and if you just DCA into the position, the price changes won't matter as much.

Nice progress.

Thanks. If Microstrategy does DCA into bitcoin (sort of), who am I to think I am smarter? So yeah, DCA sounds like a suitable strategy.

Your progress is great to watch, @gadrian. I am getting my LEO for Power Up Day tomorrow. My plan was to power up 10 more than the month before each time. Seems like that will be more of a challenge now.

Powering up 10 more LEO than the month before can become a challenge after a while even without having the price go up.

Yes, that is true. A bit overly ambitious. I will do my best to stick with the 150-a-month power-up.
Have a great day, @gadrian😆
