Progress on Land and Things I Learned from the Secret of Praetoria Flowchart Reveal

Rebellion was launched yesterday, but sorry to say, I have none, by choice, so I didn't await it with such excitement as I did the land gameplay. I believe Rebellion will be a good edition, but my focus remains 100% on land.

I hope you guys who focused on it were lucky opening packs and will have fun testing the new cards in battles and coming up with new strategies!

Back to land...

In my Hive goals post from Monday, I announced I updated my Splinterlands goals to better reflect the post-launch situation. My immediate goal is to have 30 land plots cleared and into production by the year-end.

At that time, the situation was 24 in production + 1 Keep, and 2 worksites under construction, both to be finished by the end of the year. That would bring the total to 27/30.

In the meantime, one of the worksites was completed, and I added 2 more worksites to the list that will be completed by the year-end. If we consider the Keep as a productive plot, then, the situation right now is 26 plots into production and 3 under construction and to be completed before the year-end. That makes 29/30. It is possible that by the next Hive goals update, I will have 30/30, and a goal achieved. I'll tell you then what my plan will be until the end of the year.

I also discovered another common totem fragment, which makes them two so far.

The interesting part is that we might need to hold back on reconstructing full totems using the fragments. Here's why:

You can see from the Secret of Praetoria flowchart revealed on Monday, that totem fragments are on the path to the Secret of Praetoria. The question is will they be used as consumables or staked like DEC?

Two other surprising but, in my opinion, great additions to the Land 2.0 whitepaper draft, are the sinks for Legendary / Alchemy potions and making Guild Power a part of Land 2.0. I don't see VOUCHERs anywhere yet in this flowchart, despite Matt mentioning it will have a role in Land 2.0.

We have to make careful decisions in Land 1.5 because that will affect our progress with Land 2.0. It's probably one of the main reasons why Matt started to share the Land 2.0 whitepaper draft so close after the release of the Land gameplay, to make informed decisions for the future. Of course, momentum matters, and capitalizing on the land launch.

I haven't listened to this week's town hall meeting yet, although I imagine it was focused more on Rebellion than on Land. If Matt talked about the flowchart, I am curious if he shared any details that are not in there so far.

Thanks for sharing. Hmm actually how does all these link back to the price/value of SPS? If there is ever an intent in the first place.

DEC is needed to stake on land. To get DEC, one way to do it is to convert SPS, which is ok when DEC is at peg. That burns SPS and creates DEC. Less SPS makes it more attractive price-wise.

Ah the usual SPS/DEC flywheel! Hehe! Got it, thanks for sharing!

From the different snippets and discussion I've read about this flowchart, it seems very complex. There are a bunch of other resources that people will be preoccupied with. It is really turning out like Land is a whole game altogether.

We already knew that Land would be a completely different game and complex by itself even since Matt started to talk about it. Now we have a more concrete blueprint, but still, there are so many details missing or that could change.

It sounds like the tokenomics is going to get even more complicated. I am a bit worried because there will be so many tokens and some are bound to get up getting neglected. I feel like VOUCHERs aren't used as much as it was hyped when it was first released.

@outwars talked about a discussion from the Mavs chat where it's been said Wagons will cost 50 VOUCHERs each. Matt also said they will have a role in Land, and I believe they will. In my opinion, not soon after, we will start complaining there are not enough VOUCHERs. I certainly don't have enough for my own needs even as things are so far.

Yep. I haven't seen an official document yet, so it can still change. But the last message I've seen from Cryptomancer in mav chat, as well as the discussion thereafter is that Wagons will require 50 vouchers each:

Yep, I just listened to the Town Hall, and Matt mentioned this as well.

Hi @gadrian Are totems anything like a totem pole like the Native Americans use to make? The ancient ruins sounds like it's a cool project to work on. Barb 🌟👍😀 #ctp

I guess. Here's how they look like in the game:

Yes they have a resemblance. A Native American Totem pole has animal faces and human faces. I will find an example for you.

Totem Poles: Legacy of Native Americans and Tribal Customs

*For example, if an eagle was put on the pole, it could mean that the owner’s ancestry had something to do with an eagle, he could have had a spiritual experience with an eagle, or he could have recently encountered an eagle. There is always a story attached to the inanimate objects that are used on the totem poles.

The first caucasian to ever see a totem pole in America was Captain James Cook in 1778.
