This is a short sum-up table with the state of my goals in easier TLDR form. The table has only some information, so if you want details, they can be found in the post.

I include a link to the initial goal-setting post for 2023, for reference, if needed.

Since I started participating in HPUD (and since last year in LPUD) regularly I noticed one thing. If you have them associated with some well-balanced goals, they prevent you from overthinking your actions. And I can tell you from experience that overthinking can be as damaging as acting without thinking. Maybe that's a topic for a separate post.

In the particular case of HPUD and HIVE, knowing that I want to power up 1k on every HPUD drives my actions toward that goal. That makes me hold back from attempting to catch some small changes in the price of HIVE or doing arbitrages. I may be successful in doing that or not. But overall, if the change is not significant enough, the moves needed are just another distraction with the potential of a small profit and the risk of a loss as well, in the short term.

Let's see what changed since last week regarding my Hive goals.

HIVE Power (HP) + HBD in Savings Main Goal

My staked HP slowly increased to 28397 HP this week. HBD savings remained steady at 1120 HBD.

Last week, when HIVE was still around 41 cents I purchased what I still needed for another 1k power-up next month. If HIVE pumps above 50 cents intraday that won't stop me from marking some profit and buying back later on, after the price goes back roughly to previous levels. This may seem like it contradicts what I said at the beginning of the post, but it does not. An intraday pump without something extraordinary to drive it almost always deflates quite as suddenly. And a pump above 50 cents from current levels is good, making a take profit-buy back process worthwhile.

Here's what the evolution of the HP+HBD goal looks like:

I'll need to have one of the targets (HBD or HIVE) reached to consider this goal completed.

If a target becomes too easy, I may increase the target, but not forever. Just like the market can play against your targets, they can play in their favor too.

LEO Staked Main Goal

I staked around 374 LEO on Saturday for LPUD and wherever else I still got liquid today. I am currently at 13974 LEO staked.

image.png

Just noticed the percentage of progress for my LEO stake: close to 41%. Since I am relatively on track with this goal, that is where I should be with all yearly goals to be on track. This doesn't affect anything else but the comments goal though, and it seems I am well below there.

546 more LEO need to be staked this month.

Splinterlands Land Expansion Main Focus

Land expansion's main focus extends throughout 2023. Unless I change the strategy, it will be the only main focus / main goal for Splinterlands in 2023. But there will be several 1-3 months goals.

First Land-Related Goal: DEC/DEC-B Saved - Completed

This goal is COMPLETED.

Deadline (passed): When DEC-B offer runs out, either because all were sold out or because the time limit was reached (April 9th).

Target to consider the goal completed: 1.5 mil. DEC-B saved. Done!

DEC Saved 2 Goal

Deadline stage 1: June (but sooner if possible).
Deadline stage 2: ?
Deadline stage 3: End of 2023?

Target to consider the goal completed:

  • stage 1: 1.2m DEC
  • stage 2 (will become DEC Saved 3 Goal): 2.2 DEC (1m additional DEC)
  • stage 3 (will become DEC Saved 4 Goal): 5 DEC (2.8m additional DEC)

Current situation: 213k DEC (x2) in diesel pools (+21k).

New Land-Related Goal: Maxed Cards for Staking on Land

Unless very cheap cards are on the market, this goal is on hold until I reach DEC Saved 2 Goal (stage 1).

The purpose of this goal is to build the amount of maxed-level cards I need for staking on my tract.

We will need to fill 5 slots per plot with staked cards, without requiring summoners (that doesn't mean they can't be used as regular cards).

So, what are the details of this goal?

Deadline:

  • stage 1: End of June 2023
  • stage 2: End of 2023 (this will be a new goal)

The total number of maxed-level cards needed for staking on land: 500 (5 x 100).

  • stage 1: need 220 maxed cards for land by the deadline
    • stretch goal: have optimized cards for 24 plots
  • stage 2: have 500 maxed cards for land
    • stretch goal: have optimized cards for 44 plots

Current situation total: 114 / 500 (22.8%)

Note: added 3 Beta cards to the mix for now (not all maxed, but with great PP)

Current situation stage 1: ? / 220 (haven't had time to evaluate yet; Canyon terrain type preference updates may still influence that)

Time remaining until Stage 1 deadline: ~8 weeks

I could probably add some more maxed-level cards from my playing deck if I'll need to (some are probably underutilized in my playing deck).

Comments Made

Original goal: 18k, REDUCED to 17k, by the end of 2023.

I started this week with a total of 13325 comments made.

Ended the week with 13383 comments made, which brings the number of my comments this week to 58. Lower interaction due to my absence, so I'll need to step it up again.

I now need an average of 98 to reach the goal of 17k.

Weekly Task - Buy EDS

I used part of my new gaming SWAP.HIVE gains to buy some EDS, which in turn produce more HIVE. Seems like a great solution that fits my existing goals and the current situation.

You are doing a really good job @gadrian. You might be too hard on yourself though. If you feel OK, then don't worry. You might want to ease up a bit. I understand though.
Have a great day!

I am just fine, Barb, thanks for worrying. I actually took the weekend off for a mini-vacation to recharge my batteries.

That's good @gadrian and you are most welcome. Yes being human we need to recharge a little longer than a computer 😊 I bet you found you could work must faster when you got back. !BBH !CTP

Everyone here is surely going to make some profit when Hive pumps
That is sure

That will make a lot of people happy, for sure. And that will bring back some dormant accounts as they often return when HIVE goes up in price (which is a bad judgment, but it's been explained so many times that I doubt they actually care).

Keep hammerin at it man. Remember, pressure makes diamonds. (and heat, and a kimberlite pipe).

Thanks! Pressure is not for everybody and everything. Apply (too much) pressure on the wrong material and it breaks or gets squashed.

I am ready for HPUD but I don't think I will add too much to my stake. As it is right now, my goals are on track so I don't feel the need to push that much. If I am barely on track or behind, I would probably stake more.

Pushing harder on certain targets makes sense in certain situations and not in others. If you are ok with the progress on one target, you may as well focus on another where it makes more sense given the particular situation.
