Separated my play account from my rentals account in Splinterlands

avatar

With the release of Chaos Legion, things started to become more... chaotic in Splinterlands.

I practically play only one account (plus one involved in an extended experiment). And besides the cards I play, I had on the same account the cards I rented out.

That was easy to manage when we think claiming and managing the airdrop, one account where all DEC piled up, both from rewards and from renting out cards. But when we think about managing rentals, it was a nightmare. Or I haven't found a workaround in PeakMonsters to counter that particular issue I had.

So, I had my deck of cards that I use for playing. Obviously they aren't delegated to anyone, because I play them.

At the same time I had my cards put out for rent. Some got rented, others didn't.

The ones that didn't get rented weren't a problem, because I could change the price at any time.

For the cards that got rented, I had a huge problem. I needed to terminate the renting contract, before I could do anything with them, like changing the price. That took at most 24 hours.

The waiting isn't the issue. The problem is how do I differentiate my deck used for playing from the cards that are released from the rental contract? Other than one by one I mean. Because they are both undelegated cards not offered for renting.

A filter showing only cards that were undelegated during the previous 2-3 days could be very useful here. To see only cards that were previously rented but not your own playing deck. But there isn't such filter... yet. As far as I know, I mean.

So, I decided to separate my cards in two accounts. One for playing, the existing one (@ga-sm) and one for renting out (@gadrian).

I also needed a third account, to hold my playing deck while I moved cards from my playing account to my renting account.

Why I needed the third account? For the reason described above. Because otherwise as rental contracts are terminated those cards would have been mixed with my playing deck and I had no way to easily separate them.

The process was a tedious one. It involved waiting for up to 24 hours to transfer the cards that were delegated out and delegating more Hive Power to both my small accounts because their RC got depleted rather quickly when used to transfer hundreds and thousands of cards. It wasn't actually very fun watching my Champions League-level account reduced all the way to a Bronze II one as I kept transferring cards (i.e. Collection Power) from it. Why Bronze II? Because gladiators are bound and cannot be moved, and they contribute to the CP. But in the end everything got back to normal when I moved back my playing deck.

But at least now I can manage my rentals more easily and in bulk, without consuming much time. Lately I prefered only to manage cards that didn't rent and mainly drop prices for them. Now I'll also do the opposite.

The drawback is that I have to manage two accounts instead of one and if I need cards upgraded on my playing deck, I'll have to transfer them from my other account, after buying more. Also reward cards need to be transfered from my playing account to my rental account. But still, that's less work than what I'd have to do to properly manage rentals as I had them before.

I didn't want to write this post on the Christmas Eve... it was planned for yesterday. But things took way longer than I expected. In the end I decided to write it, maybe my experience is useful to someone.

Happy Christmas if you celebrate it, otherwise enjoy your week-end!

I was thinking about similar as the number of cards becomes to be a problem... 2 min to prepare the battle was before a lot of time, and now it's not enough... Finding the cards for a battle deck is a challenge... Especially with Brawl battles where we have those Gladius cards that are hard to distinguish from others... (additional filter for card edition in brawl battles would be a great thing!)
That's my rant... almost completely offtopic... lol...

I have a different problem in Brawl. Not enough playable cards. :) Of course that's somewhat my own doing, because I keep selecting the same frays, leaving the most popular ones for others.

I rarely have the time limit issue, but I've played so much that I started to learn cards I use often by heart and I use filters a lot.

And about separating cards for playing purposes, I know Achim was planning to move cards so that one set be for wild and another for modern format. Until I see exact details about wild and modern formats, I won't bother making a move in this direction.

I hope that separation of these 2 gaming modes will help a bit...

Better now that you got things sorted out because it can be really frustrating. But since you can transfer cards from one account to another playing with certain cards shouldn't be that hard then

Yeah, now that it's over I think it'll be beneficial overall. We'll see if I need to make more adjustments regarding the two formats, but I'll wait to see full details first.
